Hey remember that time that we took a weekend trip to Universal Studios? Well I’m finally getting around to recapping it!
The main reason that we wanted to visit Universal Studios was because the new section of Harry Potter had opened up after the last time that we visited, Diagon Alley. Every other time we’ve visited Universal, we’ve always stayed at the Double Tree that’s located right across the street from the entrance to Universal Studios because we’ve always used Hilton Points. This time we decided to change it up a little bit, and we chose to stay in one of the Universal Studios resorts because we could get a whole extra hour in the Harry Potter section of the parks before everybody else was allowed to enter.
Saturday morning we woke up bright and early after landing in Orlando super late Friday night. The walk from our hotel to City Walk was little less than a mile, and we decided that it would be easier to just walk there in the morning rather than wait for the shuttle. It was freezing cold on the walk to City Walk, so I was very glad that we wore lots of layers!
As soon as we got through security to get onto City Walk, we immediately headed to the Universal Studios park and made our way to Diagon Alley. And oh my goodness, it was was everything I thought that it was going to be and more! You seriously felt like you were walking on to the set of one of the Harry Potter movies because all of the places like The Leakey Cauldron, Dr. Filibusters, Gringott’s, and even Knockturn Alley, and all of the amazing details that went into it!
I thought that we’d immediately go and hop on the Gringott’s ride, but we decided to take some pictures first because there were so few people in the area. I seriously couldn’t get enough of all the little details and all of the “magic” that was happening all around us.
Once we took some pictures, we headed onto the ride inside Gringott’s! Like the walk through Hogwarts, the walk through Gringott’s is an experience in and of itself. The goblins talk to you, and you get set up for what’s going to happen on the ride, but unlike the ride through Hogwarts, the ride through Gringott’s is 3D!
We had a blast on the ride, and there was such a small wait to go on the ride after we got off that we decided to ride it again before all of the people got there. Even though we loved the ride, Chris and I both agreed that we liked the ride through Hogwarts better.
After we had finished riding the Gringott’s ride for the second time, we wandered through some of the shops on Diagon Alley and took even more pictures! Universal couldn’t have done a better a job of making you feel like you were walking through some of the same areas that Harry Potter and his friends had walked.
