For the past few years, my girlfriends and I have tried to take a trip together every year. We were all so close in college, and then afterwards we all moved to different parts of the state and country (and eventually to another country altogether), so a trip together was the perfect way to stay close. Obviously this year we decided on Charleston for our destination, but I thought that it’d be fun to talk about some other great destinations for an amazing girls trip for this Wanderlust Wednesday with Kerri, Kate, and Emily!

The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend

  1. Charleston- When we were thinking about a place for this year’s girls trip, Charleston just seemed like the perfect place. Not only is it one of the oldest cities in the United States, but it’s also extremely beautiful and girly with the all of the amazing architecture (read perfect for Instagram!). You also can’t beat the amazing food scene either! Another appeal of Charleston is the fact that it’s a smaller city, so it was easy to navigate and get around, and also relatively inexpensive compared to the other top travel destinations in the US!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  2. New Orleans- There’s a reason that we chose this for our first girls trip ever! Not only does New Orleans have a great night life (hello Bourbon Street!), but New Orleans is another city that’s rich in history as well. From tours of the Garden District and the French Quarter to spooky ghost tours at night, you can definitely get a feel for the city of New Orleans no matter where you are. And who can pass up some amazing Creole or Cajun food or some delicious beignets from Cafe du Monde? Plus, you can’t beat how relatively inexpensive the city (if you don’t go during one of the top festival weekends) considering how touristy the city is.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  3. Las Vegas- Oh Las Vegas, you definitely know how to keep a secret, right? Sin City is known all over the world as being a place to let your inhibitions go and have a great time, and who better to do that with than your girlfriends! From the clubs and night life, to the pool parties during the day, to the amazing shopping, and the out of this world food, Las Vegas is the perfect place to go with your girls! Just be prepared for the very high price tag of this very fun city!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  4. New York City- New York City might be one of the most iconic cities in the United States! From the numerous different neighborhoods that each have a vibe all on their own, to the amazing food and shopping, to all of the cultural experiences like Broadway and the art galleries and experiences, it’s easy to see how NYC would be the perfect destination to go with your best gals! Again, because New York City is known all over the world, it’s definitely going to be a destination with a higher price tag than some of the other cities.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  5. Napa- I think that all I need to say is wine for a reason why Napa would be a great destination to visit with your besties! Besides some out of this world wine, Napa also has a great food scene with some of the world’s best chefs. Although there’s not too much more to do in Napa besides drink wine, sometimes that’s all you and your girlfriends really need! Just be prepared to pay for everything when you visit Napa, including all of your tastings!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  6. Austin- Being a Texas girl, you know that I have to throw a great Texas location on this list! Austin is known for being the capital of Texas, but it’s also known for being “weird”, aka not like the rest of the Lone Star State! Austin is definitely anything but traditional Texas, but that also means that it has a lot of other fun things to offer. Austin has its famous 6th Street for some night life, an awesome music scene, a ton of festivals throughout the year, an awesome food scene, and a ton of outdoor activities ranging from hiking and canoeing to all the lake and river activities as well. And since Austin is in Texas, it’s relatively inexpensive as well.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  7. Boston- If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, then you probably know that I’m a huge history buff, which is one of the reasons that we chose Boston as a destination for one of our girls trips. Besides being one of the integral cities during the American Revolution and having a ton of history, Boston is another city that’s has a great food scene, a great cultural scene with tons of museums, and also a great sports scene as well. Girls can love sports as well, so don’t be afraid to take in a Red Sox or a Patriots game while you’re there! Because of it’s location, Boston is another city that’s a little bit on the expensive side.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  8. Nashville- Nashville is another fun Southern city, that’s very quickly becoming the bachelorette party capital for the country, and there’s obviously a reason why. Nashville is a lot cheaper to visit than Las Vegas, and it offers some of the same great benefits as Sin City! Broadway offers a great place to party, and with all of the amazing live music, that puts it a step above Vegas in my opinion. Nashville also offers an amazing southern food scene, and if you’re a fan of country music, then Nashville is definitely the place to be!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  9. Los Angeles- Los Angeles might not be a very traditional place to visit with your girlfriends, but I think that it’d be a ton of fun! LA is the home of Hollywood, so the potential to run into some of the celebrities that you love is way higher than any where else in the country. And who better to fangirl with than some of your best friends! Because of all the celebrities that live in LA, you can also count on some fabulous shopping, some great food, and very high prices!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  10. Disney World- Again, Disney World is a very untraditional destination for some, but where else can you relive your childhood with some of your girls! I’ve always thought that it would be a ton of fun to get your picture taken with some of your favorite Disney princesses with some of your favorite girlfriends! Disney World is definitely not just for kids or big kids, you can definitely have some adult fun in Epcot and attempt to drink your way around the world!

  • Kerri Taylor

these are GREAT choices. i need to do charleston as a girls trip for sure. and i cant believe i’ve still never been to napa. lame you have to even pay for tastings but i guess they can get away with that! i’d love to do all of these destinations!

    xoxo cheshire kat

    • Thank you! Probably any destination is going to be perfect to visit with some of your girlfriends, but these just seemed extra perfect! You definitely need to get to Napa sometime soon! It’s so beautiful, and you can’t beat the wine! The tastings can definitely get very expensive, but my motto is that you’re only on vacation every once in a while!

  • Love all of these! I’ve done Charleston a couple of times for girls trips and it’s always a win. I would love to do a gals trip to NYC (and I always can find an excuse to go to the city). And Napa – yes, please!

    Southern Style

    • I just got back from a girls trip to Charleston, and we loved it so much! It was just such a cute city, and every aspect of it just seemed so feminine and perfect! NYC and Napa are always a good idea in my opinion! Any excuse to see a Broadway play or do some wine tasting is ok in my book!

  • Really good list! I still need to get to Napa, New Orleans, and LA! I can say that I’d love to do a girl’s trip to any of these places, and I’ve even done one in Charleston before. P.S. So excited my city made it to your list! 🙂

    • I had to put at least one Texas city on my list, and Austin is definitely the most fun with lots of stuff to do! Y’all definitely need to get to get to the west coast, and New Orleans is so close that it would be so easy for y’all to do a weekend trip there! Charleston was so perfect this year for our girls trip! I’m already trying to see when I can go back!

  • SO many great spots. I haven’t taken a girls trip in a REALLY long time and am thinking maybe I should head one up. Vegas, NYC, Boston…I’ll take them all 🙂

    • I think that it’s definitely time for a girls trip then! It’s really hard to just pick one location, but any of the three that you listed we be so much fun! I also love that each location has something different to offer too!

  • We usually do a beach town or the lake!

    • Before we left Charleston we were talking about maybe doing a beach next trip! We were thinking that we needed something relaxing!

  • So many great destinations in one post! Charleston and Boston are at the top of my list, as well as San Francisco – I don’t care who I go with!

    • San Francisco is so much fun with a ton of stuff to do! Plus it’s really close to Napa! I personally love Boston and Charleston so much because of all the history! It’s so crazy to be walking through a city that has been around for that long!

  • So many great places to visit! I was happy to see my hometown of Boston on the list. My last girls trip was to Nantucket over the holidays and it was so much fun. Girls trips are the best.

    • We seriously had the best time when we visited Boston a few years ago, and I’m already dying to go back! Nantucket sounds like a great place for a girls trip too! We were actually talking about a beach for our next girls trip!

  • Lindsay

I’ve been thinking of spending my 30th in Seattle with the girls… have you been there?

    • I haven’t been to Seattle yet, but we’re actually heading there in August! I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city, so I’m sure that you’ll have a great time with your girls!

      • Lindsay

Oh I can’t wait to read about your adventures there this summer. All I know is that I want to go to tree house point to stay there and visit the glass museum! You’ll have to give me the low down on food and drinks!

  • Darcy from A Memory of Us

All of these would be such fun trips! I personally love Vegas because it’s so easy — no car needed once you get there!

    • The not having to have a car definitely helps with the more expensive hotel rooms in Vegas! Plus Vegas is really walkable too, which I totally love!

  • I really want to go to Charleston and Nashville! And I haven’t been to Disney since I was really little! All of these sound like so much fun!

    • We had a big kids Disney trip a few years ago because I hadn’t visited since I was a little girl too! It was so much fun to go back and meet all the Disney princesses! Y’all definitely need to visit Charleston and Nashville! They’re both such fun cities, and maybe they’d add some more states to your list!

  • This is such a fun list! Where did you stay when you went to Charleston? I’ve been looking at going, but all of the hotels I’ve looked at are really expensive!

    • We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which is in Downtown Charleston and not exactly in the middle of where everything is, but it wasn’t too expensive. The great thing about Charleston is that it’s not a very big city, so we were able to Uber pretty much everywhere for pretty cheaply which was very nice!

      • I’ll look into that one! Thanks! I’ve looked at too many hotels that are $300+ a night.

  • Definitely want to go to Austin, NYC, New Orleans and Nashvhille…I’ve never been to any of them! I’ve actually only been to LA from this list, but those are four of my top places that I want to visit in the US!

    • All of those cities are seriously so much and I know that you’d love them! All of them have such great food and so many fun things to do! I hope you have a chance to visit them sometime soon!

  • LOVE that you girls still get together and go on these amazing trips! Nashville, Charleston, Vegas, and Napa are fabulous girls trip locations <3
    Green Fashionista

    • We had a little bit of a hiatus for two years, but I think that we’re officially kicking it back off with our trip to Charleston this year. I’m seriously already dreaming about where we’ll go next!

  • This is such a fun post! I love it. & goodness, I’ve seen your blog through linkups several times, I don’t know why I keep failing to add you to my read list! 1) NOLA is my favorite city in the US so far. So gorgeous and fun! 2) I head to Vegas for the first time this August! So jazzed! 3) Nashville is SO fun, I totally agree with you here! I went once for a very short trip and we are headed back in July! I can’t wait! 4) I would LOVE to go to Charleston. It has been rising on my list for quite some time.

I love the off the wall choices you picked. So unique and super fun!

    XO – Alexandra

    Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things

    • Thank you! I hope you have a blast when you go to Vegas! There’s really a ton to do on the strip and off the strip that doesn’t have to do with gambling, I promise! I hope that you have the chance to visit Charleston sometime soon! This year was my first time to visit and it met all of my expectations and then some! I’m so jealous of your trip to Nashville! We had so much fun last year and are already dreaming about going back!

  • Love this post and that you do a girls’ trip with your friends every year! It’s been too long since I’ve been to Austin! My little brother goes to UT (awful, I know), so I’m hoping to drive down to see him in the fall!

    • Haha sometimes we just have to love our family, despite the fact that they make some bad decisions 😉
The girls trip has become something that we look forward to every year, especially since we don’t live that close to each other anymore.

  • All of these are awesome destinations! I would say yes to a girls’ trip to any of them, but have a special place in my heart for Nashville!

    • Nashville really is such a fun city, right! We visited last year for the very first time, and we’re already itching to go back!

  • As soon as I came to your page I said “OMG” out loud! Some gfs and I have been thinking of a girls trip. One of them wants Vegas but I have been a million and one times. Charlotte is something that has come up a couple times and I think I like that as an idea as well as Nashville. This was an amazing list, thanks for sharing!

    • I’m glad that I could help! Vegas is definitely a city that a lot of people have been to a lot of the time, but it can still be a lot of fun. Hopefully y’all can decide on somewhere that nobody has been before! You could always use the argument that Nashville is similar to Vegas and cheaper!

  • Love this list girl!! I absolutely love Nola and Vegas for a girls trip! I have to make some trips up to Austin once I move to Houston, I’m dying to check it out and hopefully catch some fun festival or something. Charleston is another place on my list of places to go because of the rich history and the cute small town feel!

    • Yes you definitely need to head to Austin once you move to Houston! It’s really just a short distance away, and there’s so much to do! And all the things that you mentioned about Charleston are all the reasons that we wanted to go! I hope you have the chance to visit soon!

  • Nadine

Yes to all of these places!!!! I have only been to New Orleans and Nashville on your list but the others are all places I have been wanting to check out!

    • You’ve been to two of my favorite places on my list! I think that you might need to start planning a trip sometime soon too though! Most of these places I’ve visited with my husband, so they’re also fun places to visit with husbands too!

  • You nailed it with this list! I have taken a girls trip to a few of these places and I’m excited to see the rest with some of my best gals. I’m taking a girls trip with the same group of people that celebrated my bachelorette party and we’re going to the Outer Banks. We really just needed a good beach trip, I can’t wait.

    • Thank you! Before we left Charleston we started talking about where we wanted to go next year, and the beach was one place that came to mind! We were thinking maybe a place that’s more relaxing rather than doing next year!

  • Ummmm, I want them all!! I love, love, LOVE the idea of girl’s trips. Maybe once all my friends are done getting married/we are done traveling for said weddings I can get my friends on board for a girl’s trip.

My mom and I stayed the night in NOLA when she was helping me move out to Texas. We literally only did Bourbon St. and then Cafe Du Monde before hitting the road again to Houston. I hated it. Ha! Hated. I want to go back and really explore though.

    • When everybody is still getting married and you’re having weekends taken up by bachelorette parties and weddings it can definitely be hard to plan a trip with girlfriends. Last year 2 out of the 4 of us that normally go on these trips got married so we decided that their weddings and bachelorette parties were our girls trips for the year.

You definitely need to head back to New Orleans soon! You definitely hit up some of the highlights, but there’s so much more to do! It’s really not that bad of a drive from Houston either, and you can typically find some pretty cheap flights too!

  • Rachel

I totally agree about Napa! We have been there several times for our honeymoon/anniversary and love it. My husband loves wine and I like it too, but truthfully, I go for the food haha! It’s definitely just as good (if not better!) than the wine!

    xo, Rachel
    A Blonde’s Moment

    • My husband and I love Napa as well! We went for the first time a few years ago and I really think that’s the reason why he grew to love wine. All of the food in Napa really is so amazing! We’re headed back in August, and I can’t wait to eat at some more of the amazing restaurants!

  • Christina Sotherden

I’ve always wanted to Napa as a girls trip! I’ve done Disney, Charleston, NYC (because most of my friends live there, ha!), and Nashville with girlfriends so I totally agree with this round up!

    • Napa really would be so awesome for a girls trip, especially if you have lots of friends that are wine lovers and love the west coast! I love that you’ve already done half of the cities on my list, and hopefully you can add some more to your list soon!

  • Totally agree with Charleston and NYC! Charleston is so beautiful and laid back but there is still so much to see! and you can never run out of things to do in NYC 🙂

    • Totally agree! I’ve been to NYC quite a few times and I’m always finding new places to eat and new things to do! We seriously fell in love with Charleston when we were there, and I’m already itching to go back!

  • All perfect places for a girls trip! I’d love to visit Napa and Charleston with my girl friends. I went to NOLA for a bachelorette and that was crazy but still fun. I guess you have to do that once to get it out of your system lol. Dying to visit Austin and Boston!

    • Haha I can bet that the bachelorette party on Bourbon was insane, but I totally agree with you that it’s probably something you just need to get out of you system. I hope that you have a chance to visit Austin and Boston soon! They’re both so much fun!

  • Yes Yes YES!!!!! I love this post! My girlfriends and I are going to Seattle next March and I am so excited! 🙂 But this will be a great reference for future trips for us! Thanks friend!

    • I haven’t been to Seattle yet, but I know that you’re going to have so much fun with your girlfriends! Plus y’all can go to the original Starbucks! I know that you’ve already done Disney with your girlfriends!

  • What a great list. I think with the right group of girls (like the group you have) any girls’ trip would be a fun adventure!

  • I want to go to all of these!! I haven’t done a girls’ trip in forever because everyone’s lives have become so busy. Maybe that’s even more of a reason to organize one!
    Evelina @ Fortunate House

    • You definitely should try to plan a trip soon! It takes a lot of planning in order to find a weekend and make sure it’ll work with everybody, but it’s totally worth it!

  • Awesome list…!! So many I’ve not been to!! Waaahhhh!!

    • Thank you! There’s still a lot of places that I haven’t been to either, but it’s a good thing that we still have a lot of time left right!

  • Charleston is amazing! I love that it’s not too overwhelming but there is so much to do and so many awesome restaurants. I think your list is totally on point. I would have to add Seattle — one my favorite places in the world! There is so much to to but again it’s not super overwhelming. The fish markets! The food! The coffee! The beer! The wine!

    • Totally agree with you about Charleston! We were able to do a lot when we were there for a weekend, but there’s still so much more I want to do so I need to plan another trip back! We’re taking our first trip to Seattle later on this year and I’m so excited! I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about the food scene, and of course I’d want to visit the original Starbucks and pike place market too!

  • love all of these!! my girls and i usually take a beach trip but we need to amp it up!

    • Haha we were actually talking about where we wanted to go next year and we were talking about a beach trip! We’re all thinking that we might need a relaxing trip next year!

  • Biana Perez

I 100% agree with all of these especially Boston but you know I’m biased LOL! I’ve done a girls trip to Charleston and it was a blast! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • Haha I knew that you’d love that I had Boston on my list! We loved our trip to Boston a few years ago and Charleston this year, and I’m already itching to go back!

  • Yes to all of these! I had so much fun with the girls in Charleston and Vegas is always a good time! Of course I’m going to agree with Disney World 🙂 Where else can you have fun with your girls and act like a kid? <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

    • You and Kerri were definitely an inspiration for adding Disney World to the list! Y’all always have so much fun when y’all go! I was actually talking to my girlfriends from work and we might actually make a trip to Disney in October for the food and wine festival, and my fingers are crossed that it all works out!

  • Love this! I’ve been to most of these places! one of my friends and I were just saying we think Austin might be our next weekend getaway spot. there or Seattle! I’ve heard great things about both!

    • I can definitely vouch for y’all having a good time in Austin! It definitely has a great personality and is a lot of fun! I haven’t been to Seattle yet, but we’re headed there in August! From everything that I’ve heard, you’d have a great time there too!

  • I totally agree with your choices. I think Charleston is fantastic; I’m from South Carolina, but that place is totally it’s own thing, unlike anything in the rest of the state. There are other good parts, but that’s different. New Orleans is awesome, too. I would love to go to Nashville! I think Tennessee would be so much fun. I’m all about the food scene, too haha.

    • You definitely need to get yourself to Nashville then, especially if you love food! They’re food scene is on point, and I literally still dream about all the amazing food we had when we visited! We absolutely loved Charleston when we visited! That’s so funny that you say that it’s different than the rest of the state because that’s totally what we say about Austin too! Austin is a blast but definitely has its own personality!

  • Jasmine @makingrestorations

dropping by from the linkup, loving your list. I’m not even a disney person but I love the idea of doing a girls trip there.

    • Thank you! Disney is definitely a fun place to be a big kid, and who better to be that with than some of your girlfriends!

  • oh yes! i’ve been planning a girls trip for sometime later this year and charleston, NOLA and NY are at the top of my list! i’ve been to NY lots of times so i’m pushing for Charleston and NOLA.

    • Hooray for planning girls trips! I hope that you end up going to Charleston or New Orleans! NYC really is a lot of fun, but if you’ve been a lot sometimes it’s just fun to experience something different.

  • So many great cities! I’ve visited all of these cities but only a few were girls trips. I’d love to get back out to Napa with my girls!

    • Napa just seems so fitting to visit with some of your best girlfriends! If beautiful scenery and wine doesn’t scream a perfect girls trip, I don’t know what does!

  • Lauren @

NOLA is definitely my favorite 🙂 Miami is one city I didn’t see that I have to mention! From my experience, women get straight up pampered and don’t pay for much. And Caribbean weather? What more could you want?

    • I’ve actually never been to Miami, but that sounds like a great destination for a girls trip, especially if you want to get pampered! I would definitely be all for days of just laying on the beach!

  • this is so awesome! my girlfriends and i went on a weekend trip to nashville back in 2010 (well, it was the trip that i met 2 of them, but it counts) and we have been planning another… 6 years later lol. but we decided on vegas, but now we might be changing to miami. we’ll see. you really can’t go wrong as long as you’re with girlfriends, right?

    • Exactly! For our first girls trip we were trying to decide on where we wanted to go since we were all right out of college, and we were debating about just doing a trip in Texas since it would be cheaper. As long as you’re with your girlfriends, I think that you’re pretty much guaranteed a good time!
