It’s the middle of August, which means that it’s time for my third check in for my 101 in 1001 with Macy from To Travel and Beyond! Overall, the past few months have been kind of slow for me, as far as checking things off my 101 in 1001 list. Hopefully I’ll check some more things off in the coming months, but here is my progress over the past three months, and my overall progress since November 16th of last year!

The Wandering Weekenders- 101 in 1001

Travel

2. Visit 10 cities that I’ve never been to before. (2/10)
At the last check-in, I had only visited one city that I’d never been to before, and since then I’ve only visited one other city that I’ve never been to before, and that’s Portland. I’m right in the middle of recapping our trip to Portland, and if you’ve never been, I can’t recommend a trip there enough!

10. Visit a brewery in another city.
Chris and I had an anniversary trip to Denver, Colorado, and one of the things that Chris wanted to do while we were there was to visit The Great Divide Brewing Company, which we did. Eventually I’ll get around to recapping our trip to Denver, I promise!

14. Visit the Pacific Northwest.
I managed to check this off when we visited Portland earlier this year. The Pacific Northwest was so incredibly breathtaking, and I don’t know why it took me so long to make it up there!

Like I stated in my last weekending post, things didn’t work out exactly how we’d planned, so instead of going to Napa, we made some plans and went on a spontaneous weekend trip to Waco. I know, when I say that I “made plans” that doesn’t exactly scream spontaneous, but that’s pretty spontaneous to me, whose Type A personality likes to have every single detail planned out!

20. Go on a trip once a month for a year. (8/12)
Still going strong with this goal! We’ve managed to go on a trip once a month since December of last year, and if everything goes according to plan, we’ll meet this goal by November! I’m so excited!
23. Take a road trip.
I guess that technically this could have been met anytime we drive anywhere in Texas since most places are pretty far from each other, but I’m counting our trip to Magnolia Market as our road trip.

House

42. Organize the pantry and keep it organized.
Not much happened on the home front over the past three months, except for me cleaning out the pantry right before Chris’s birthday party. I knew that everybody was going to be throwing stuff away in there during the party, so I spent a few hours throwing stuff away and cleaning it out. Thank goodness that we’ve been able to keep it organized still!

Life

61. Read 100 books. (43/100)
Reading has been going pretty well for me so far this year, and I think that the main reason for that is because of the book clubs that I’ve joined and because of the reading challenges I’ve participated in as well. Since my 101 in 1001 has started, I’ve read 7 books in 2015 and 36 books in 2016.

Blog

97. Update old blog posts with better pictures and captions.
The weekend before last, I had quite a bit of time during the weekend, and I used that time to update my old blog posts about our trip to Napa. Not only did I update captions, but I also added some Pinterest graphics and added them to Pinterest. Even though I’m sure that I’ll update some more posts going forward, I’m going to consider this item done!

100. Develop my social media presence more.
I feel like my Instagram game has really stepped up a lot, and I’m hoping that I’ll hit 1,000 followers by the end of the year. I have also joined quite a few Facebook groups that help with Social Media promotion and engagement, and I feel like my Facebook and Pinterest game have shown some positive growth from that as well. Hopefully my social media presence will continue to grow!

The Wandering Weekenders- My 101 in 1001 Check In #3- Checking in to see how I'm tracking so far over the past three months!

  • Dang girl, you are killing that list! I’ve always wanted to go to the Pacific Northwest too, it looks so pretty and your pictures are just proving that! And I’m with you on the spontaneous thing. Planned last minute is spontaneous for me 🙂 <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

    • I’m glad that I’m not the only one that thinks that way about spontaneous trips! It was hard for me to plan something just a couple of days before! And you have to head up to the PNW soon! It’s so beautiful and has a lot of things to do too!

  • Looks to me like you are doing a great job on that list! I really need to make some time to sit down and create a 101 in 1001. Seeing these updates is such a great motivator!

    • I hope that you make one soon! It’s been fun to see how I’m doing and it’s been a good motivator for me to get stuff done around the house! I hope that you make one soon! What really helped me out was dividing it up into categories.

  • Jen

You are doing awesome with your list!!! I really need to create a list like this.

    • I hope that you get to make one! It’s been a really good motivator for me to do things around the house or things that I’ve said I want to do for a while.

  • You’re gettin’ it, girl! Keep up the great work!

  • Nadine

I would say you are doing awesome! Look at all the fun trips you have taken! I need to clean out/organize our pantry. It has become a disaster and I don’t even really know how? I am awful at social media for my blog/personal stuff. I need to get better.

    • Thank you! It took an hour or two to clean out our pantry, but it was totally worth it! I think that our main problem with it was just not getting rid of old food or not putting things up in the right spot. I’ve just started stepping up my Instagram game and I’m liking my results so far! But geez it’s exhausting too!

  • I love these posts- though I think I say that about ALL of your posts 🙂 It sounds like you’re on track with your list– it’s awesome that you’re able to check off a variety of things each time you check-in!

    • I have to admit that I definitely plan some of our trips and stuff around this list and trying to get stuff done, so it has been fun to check those off. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to cross even more things off next time!

  • I love your 101 in 1001! I think that going on a trip once a month for a year is an awesome goal and I’m so glad to see that you’re accomplishing it. And the Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite places. I’m so glad you got to go.

    • The going on a trip once a month for a year has been a lot of fun to plan, and I really think that we’ll achieve that goal come November which I’m really excited about! We fell in love with the PNW so much when we visited Portland, and I’m excited to visit Seattle next week and see it some more!

  • you go girl – you are killing it. i love the once a month for a year trips, so fun. and of course the bookish one. you can do it!

    • I think so! I think that doing the book challenges has kept me on track, and keeping reading a priority. I love our monthly trips, and I think that we’ll complete that goal in November with everything that we have planned!

  • You’re making such great progress! How awesome that you’ll have gone on a trip every month for a year!

    • I think that planning all of our monthly trips has been the most fun part about this list! It’s been a lot of planning but it’ll be so worth it when we check the box after our last trip!

  • You’re making really good progress! I love your goal about going on a trip once a month and it’s awesome that you’re close to achieving that goal!

    • With everything that we have planned through the end of the year we’ll check it off the list in November and I’m so exited! That’s definitely the goal I’m most excited about!

  • Destroying that list! I love this series, I need to do my own. I am so impressed too with how many books you have read! Keep up the good work!

    • Thank you! It’s been a lot of fun to keep track of but also its been fun to actually get my butt in gear about some house goals and stuff.

  • Planned spontaneous is definitely the only way I can be spontaneous, too! Haha. 🙂

  • Christina Sotherden

You’re doing so good with this list! The trip every month is definitely my favorite!

  • You’ve done so much girl! I love love love reading all of your trip recaps. They’re always so thorough and interesting! I love working on my list and seeing the progress others are making too! Great job 🙂

    • Me too! I loved seeing what everybody chose for their lists and then to see everybody check things off too! I don’t know if I’ll actually complete everything but it’s been so much fun to try!

  • You’re making good headway on these goals!! Woohooo! I would struggle to go to 10 new cities… Guess there are a few places around here that I haven’t been to, but…!! Planned spontaneous is pretty spontaneous to me!! 😉

    • I thought that I would have had more cities crossed off my list too, but we’ve visited a lot of cities that we’d already visited before. I think that we’ll meet our goal when we go to Europe though!

      • I’m so excited for you and your Europe trip! I can’t wait to see which cities you get to!!

  • You’re doing really, really well with all of your goals, Ashley! NOICE!

    • Thank you! I think that setting up the list has helped me to actually get some things done around our house and stuff too!

  • Rachel

I know you don’t think you’ve accomplished a lot, but it sounds like a ton to me!! I’ve been trying to go back and edit old blog posts as well, it’s super time consuming but I think it’s definitely worth it. And at least you were able to cross off the spontaneous weekend trip last weekend!

    xo, Rachel
    A Blonde’s Moment

    • It’s so hard to go back and update old blog posts! I think that it takes longer than creating new posts because you have to find the exact pictures you used! It’s been fun to look back on old posts in the process though! I was so happy that we crossed that one off the list because I’m such a planner it’s hard to be spontaneous!

  • WHOA!! You are kicking the goals out left and right! I’m really impressed. I made coffee…that’s about it for today, hehe

    • Haha! I feel like I’m not really doing much on a daily basis, but then when I look at everything together, it’s pretty crazy to see how much we’ve done!

  • I think you’re doing fantastic with all your goals, and it sounds like you’re not slowing down any time soon. Get it, girl!

    • Thank you! It’s been fun to see how everybody else has been doing with their list too! I can’t wait to see if I can complete it or not!

  • Hey that seems great to me! I am doing my 2-year mark check in for this next week I think! 🙂 I feel that some have gone really well, and others I keep slacking on! 😛 hehe Keeping it in evernote has really helped though. 🙂 Holy Toledo a trip every month is crazy-amazing. Wow. In awe! Also, so much reading! Woohoo! 🙂 XO – Alexandra

    Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things

    • It doesn’t seem like we accomplished as much as we did in months past, but we still managed to accomplish a lot so far! I can’t wait to see how you’ve done on all of your goals! I can already tell some of the goals that I won’t reach within the 1001 days, but I’m going to try my hardest!

  • Darcy from A Memory of Us

exploring the pacific northwest is on our bucket list! We really want to see that area!
    http://www.amemoryofus.com

    • I hope that you get to make it out there soon! It’s so beautiful and green! I’m excited to head out there again next week!

  • Ashley Stephenson

That is a spontaneous trip in my books! I have to have everything planned out! My best friends took a trip to England this summer (a singles girls trip so I wasn’t invited) but they said I would have gotten very annoyed because they didn’t plan anything they just went with the flow.

    • I don’t think that I would have been able to handle that either! I have to at least have a plan of action and an idea of things to see and do! I think that part of that stems from me not wanting to be bored. I’m just glad that everybody agrees that it was a spontaneous trip!

  • You are doing so well with your goals! I tell ya, it takes so much to recap trips when you take so many! I am 4-5 behind right now! You have read so many books this year, I love it!

    • I’m the same way with trips! I feel so guilty because I haven’t even recapped our trip from Hawaii last year and that’s over a year ago! It’ll take me two years to recap our Europe trip that’s coming up at the rate that I’m going lol! Thanks again for hosting such a fun linkup!

  • I’m impressed with the amount of books you’ve read so far and how you’ve been able to plan so many different types of trips (I’m tempted to say diversity your trips because of my business background). Portland is somewhere I never thought to check out but you have me intrigued!

    • Haha you can say diverse trips because I definitely feel like we’re all over the place. The trips have all been fun to plan, and I can’t wait to check off the trip once a month for a year. You need to try and make it up to the PNW! It’s such a beautiful part of the country!

  • Biana Perez

I think your blog posts always have fantastic photos and as for your travelling goals – i know for a fact you’ll hit that! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • Thanks so much Biana! That’s definitely the one that I can feel myself focusing on, which is probably why some of the other goals have been suffering 😉

  • I love your extensive bucket list project that you have going on here! I’m constantly working to cross items off my bucket list too! It sure looks to me like you accomplished a lot over the last 3 months 🙂

    Erica

    • It was so much fun to create this list, but it’s definitely been more fun to check things off the list! Hopefully I’ll be able to complete the whole thing!

  • Girl you are rockin’ this list! Super impressed with how much you’ve been able to read with how busy work is and all your amazing travels! <3
    Green Fashionista

    • I really think that the reading challenges I’ve joined have helped with me reading, but I also love that I’m able to read on the bus to and from work every day. My fingers are crossed that I’ll get some more of these crossed off by the next check in!

  • Such a great idea to create a list like that! Keep it up and you’ll accomplish everything 🙂

Check out my latest postl xoxo, Redhura

    • Thank you! It has helped me to get my butt in gear with things that I’ve said that I want to do but just never got around to doing. Hopefully I’ll have even more checked off by the time the next check in rolls around!

  • The go on a trip once a month for a year has been so much fun to work on! I didn’t know if we would make it at one point, but with what we have planned right now I think we’ll be good to go in November! We loved Portland so much and fell in love with the PNW! I’m really excited to be visiting again next week when we’re in Seattle!

  • I think that planning all of our monthly trips has been the most fun part about this list! It’s been a lot of planning but it’ll be so worth it!

  • I love The Great Divide Brewing Company! I can’t wait to hear all about your trip to Denver 🙂 These type of lists are so much fun, I keep meaning to create one myself. Good for you for these achievements!

    • I probably never would have done one if Macy hadn’t made a linkup out of it, but I’m really glad that I did. It’s helped me to prioritize different areas of my life, and I’ve loved being able to check things off the list. I think that you should try and make one!
