Brrr you guys! I hope that everybody managed to stay warm this past weekend! We had some pretty cold weather in Houston that even dropped into the 20’s, which is pretty crazy considering that a week ago it was in the 80’s, and it will be again later on this week. Because of all the cold weather, we decided that a weekend at home is just what we needed, especially since we still needed to take down Christmas. Here’s what our very cold weather looked like, and of course, I’m linking up with Biana!
We’re right in the middle of year end at work, but I still managed to get home at a decent hour Friday night. We had made some chili earlier this week, and I was very happy to have that to help keep me warm on Friday night.
We still had Christmas up at our house, so we decided to get a jump start on taking down all of our Christmas decorations by taking down all of the ornaments off the tree. It’s definitely not as much fun as putting the ornaments on the tree, but it was still fun to see all of the ornaments commemorating our trips that we’ve been on.
We didn’t have big plans for Saturday other than getting to sleep in a little bit and take down Christmas, which is exactly what we did. It’s definitely not the most fun thing to do on a Saturday, and truth be told we still have boxes lying around the house that need to go up, but at least the decorations are down!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing at home and getting a few things done around the house. I managed to get a little bit of work done on some of our photo books of our trip to Northern California from 2014 (yeah, I’m that far behind), and we also managed to get quite a bit of episodes of Friends under our belt as well!
It had been a while since Chris and I had a sushi date, so we decide that this would be the perfect weekend for one. MF Sushi is probably the best sushi restaurant in all of Houston, and we loved being able to splurge on some amazing nigiri and rolls as well. It was the perfect way to end our evening!
Like usual, Sunday was our day for getting ready for the rest of the week. We went out and got some Pho for lunch before going grocery shopping and meal prepping for the week followed by a ton of laundry. This week I’m really excited to try a Skinnytaste recipe that’s been on her website for forever, but that for some reason we’ve never tried! It was delicious, made a ton, and is definitely one that we’ll be trying again soon!
The rest of the day was spent watching A New Hope after I’d been dying to watch it after seeing Rogue One, and a lot more episodes of Friends! We just watched Chandler and Monica’s wedding, and I can’t wait to the last few seasons!
Overall, it wasn’t too exciting of a weekend, but we did mange to get a few things done around the house. But you know what, I feel like it was the perfect weekend to kick off 2017 before things get too crazy, like they always do!
Did you have an exciting weekend? Have you taken down all of your Christmas decorations yet?
