This weekend wasn’t the most exciting, but it was exactly what we needed after a few weekends of what felt like going nonstop. So I’m linking up with the always fabulous Biana for some weekending!

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend Filled With Zero Plans

Friday

Friday night I had zero plans because Chris was finally getting home after a week of training in DC. All the storms that had hit the South last week finally made their way up the East Coast and Chris just barely made it out of DC before the airport closed down. I was very thankful because even though he got home late, he was still home!

Since I was waiting on him to get home, I spent my night just relaxing. I took Dart on a long walk to get the mail and then I spent the rest of the night getting caught up on my shows and finishing a binge watch of the second season of UnReal. If y’all haven’t watched it and you love shows like The Bachelor, you need to check out UnReal, it’ll make you rethink everything you know about “reality TV”.

Saturday

Since Chris got home late and had a busy week with training, we set zero alarms Saturday morning, but in true “old people” fashion we were up and ready to go around 8:30 that morning. So we decided to take Dart on a long walk around the back of our neighborhood. Since there weren’t a lot of people out at that point in time, we decided to let Dart off leash and oh my goodness did he love it! He went absolutely bananas smelling everything in sight and running around. It was a great start to our Saturday!

After that we came back to the house and relaxed for a bit before running out for some lunch and errands. We grabbed some pizza at Grimaldi’s before getting some lamps for our guest bedroom and a few other things at Homegoods and finally getting a library card for our area. We’ve lived in Katy for 7 years, and I finally have a Fort Bend County library card. I did have a library card to the Houston system, but I’m happy to have one so close to home now.

The rest of the afternoon and night was spent picking up a little bit and finally getting to watch the finales of Big Little Lies and The Walking Dead. Both were so good, and I have to say that I’m much more excited for next season of The Walking Dead than this past one.

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend Filled With Zero Plans

Sunday

Again we set no alarms on Saturday and luckily Chris slept in a little bit later than I did. My sister came over for the afternoon and we went and grabbed Torchy’s for lunch before heading over to World of Beer for the crawfish cookout that Saint Arnold was a part of. It was a beautiful day outside and we enjoyed hanging out outside and of course trying some crawfish. I guess that we could call our crawfish a little bit of an after lunch snack.

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend Filled With Zero Plans

The rest of the day was spent doing the Sunday afternoon usual of grocery shopping, laundry, making dinner, and relaxing. While it wasn’t too terribly exciting, it was exactly what we needed in order to conquer the 4 day week ahead!

Did you have a relaxing weekend? Have you ever tried crawfish?

The weekend with zero plans where we relaxed at home and got stuff done.

  • what a lovely weekend. glad chris made it home before the storms shut it all down. they were creepy! and love that dart had a blast off the leash – those moments are the best to watch them play and have fun freely πŸ™‚ and crawfish looked fun! although not my thing (i’m more of a crab boil kinda girl), it still looked like a blast πŸ™‚

    xoxo cheshire kat

    • I think that Chris would be right there with you about choosing crab over crawfish. One of the things he was looking forward to the most about going to DC was eating crab! And seeing Dart off the leash really is the best! You can tell that he just gets so happy getting to run around free!

  • we were flying into DC on Thursday night and it was a mess. The airport had shut down earlier in the day and everything was backed up. When we finally got in and down to the luggage area, there were probably 200 people in line waiting to report lost luggage. They had no sense of order – bags were just coming out of random carousels. So everyone had pulled off random bags and they were just stacked throughout the airport. Just rows and rows and rows of random luggage. Thankfully we found ours relatively quickly though πŸ™‚

    • Oh my goodness that’s so crazy! It’s amazing how a little bit of weather can basically just shut down a city, especially if you’re not prepared for it. I was very thankful that my husband was able to get out of DC because he had heard that there were some people that were stuck at the airport all weekend and unable to get out because their flight left later than theirs. I’m glad that you were at least able to find your bags quickly!

  • Christina Sotherden

We’ve had a couple weekends with no set plans recently and they have been such fun!

  • We had crawfish this weekend too! lol Weekends with no plans are the best!

    • I think that it’s been a few years since I’ve had crawfish, so I was very happy to have it last weekend! I feel like I need more weekends with no plans, but we just tend to book up so quickly!

  • Living on Cloud Nine

Perfect no plan weekend!! Crawfish outside on a beautiful day sounds fantastic!! Happy Monday sweets!

    • Thank you! It really was the perfect day to eat crawfish outside because it was just so beautiful! I’m hoping that the cooler weather will hold out so we can do it some more!

  • Sometimes having zero plans results in the best weekend! That crawfish cookout looked like such a blast and the weather looked gorgeous! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

    • The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! As you know because you live in Florida, there’s only a few weekend all year that are perfect for being outside before it gets too hot and humid, so we’re definitely trying to enjoy them as much as possible!

  • I love weekends with no plans, they make the best ones. I’m so behind in the Walking Dead but I already know how this season ended. Damn spoilers in the newspaper. Not sure if I’m even gonna watch the rest of the season. Wasn’t crazy about this season. It’s just not as interesting as it use to be.

    • I think that this season of TWD made a lot of people frustrated because Neegan is just such a bad guy, how can evil conquer good? That’s such a bummer that the newspaper spoiled the finale for you! I’m still planning on watching it, but I agree that it’s not as good as it used to be.

  • Emily Dunham

Sounds like a much-needed relaxing weekend! Love that you had some crawfish this weekend – I have always wanted to try! And yay for a library card close by. It took me a long time, too, and I am so so glad I finally got one!

    • I hope that you get to try crawfish sometime soon! When they’re cooked the right way, they’re beyond delicious! And I’m seriously so surprised by how long it took me to get a library card, but as soon as I’m done with Erin’s Challenge, I’m planning on stocking up on some new books!

  • What a productive weekend and yay for getting a new library card, that’s always so exciting! The crawfish cookout sounds so fun, I’ve always wanted to go to one. You and your sister look so much alike!

    • You definitely need to try and go to a crawfish boil if you can! They’re a lot of fun, and probably pretty similar to a crab boil, just a different thing that you’re cooking. And I seriously can’t believe why it took me so long to get a library card, but I’m looking forward to getting some new books!

  • Nicole F

I swear if we choose Texas as our forever home after the military retirement, then our realtor will owe you a commission! All these fun things and amazing pictures pique my interest for your home state. I could get on board with any of these activities you post πŸ™‚

    • I hope that y’all do decide to make Texas your forever home! I mean there’s a reason why we’re all so proud to be Texans πŸ™‚ There really is so many fun and different things to do here, and I feel like I don’t give myself enough time to get around and do those things that are right in my backyard!

  • Totally was with you this weekend with having zero plans! With hubby studying all weekend it meant I got to just catch up with my shows and get some cleaning/packing done. Looks like the crawfish boil y’all went to was fun! Yay for a local library card, I totally use mine all the time and love having the library so close to me!

    • I do too! One of the other things that I love is that they have Overdrive at the library which will make renting ebooks so easy! And even though A had to study all last weekend, it was totally worth it so he could pass his test! I swear sometimes I love nothing more than relaxing in front of the TV and getting caught up on my DVR!

  • Nadine

Ahhhhh WOB!!!! Our shut down in Birmingham, and if you recall….I was a regular there for years. Makes me so sad. Not that I would be there a ton right now with a baby but still! Sounds like the perfect weekend of getting a few things done and just enjoying no plans too.

    • Yes I feel like I always remember you talking about trips to WOB on the weekends, and I was actually thinking about how we needed to go back and try the food because it seemed like the food was always awesome when you went! And I’m so glad that we were able to get stuff done last weekend because we definitely didn’t have time to run errands last weekend with Easter going on!

  • Weekends with no plans are sometimes the best, and it looks like you took advantage of it! So glad your hubby got home and you could enjoy the downtime together.

    • They really are the best! I feel like we hardly ever have weekends with zero plans, so it was nice to just relax for one of them! I think that Chris might have enjoyed it even more than me because he was so busy at training the week before.

  • Love weekends with no plans! Sounds like you made the most of it. We finished Big Little Lies too, and I thought they did such an amazing job with the finale! It was so so good!

    • I thought so too! I was a little worried wondering how they were going to get everything wrapped up, but they did a great job! And I feel like we might need another No Plans Weekend soon because this one went so well!

  • Sounds like the perfect weekend to me! I was cooped up in my apartment all weekend because I looked so diseased. I still have the rash but I’m pretty sure it’s finally starting to fade (after 3 days). Fingers crossed it gone by tomorrow. Any who…..lets grab dinner soon please!! I’m dying to catch up!

    • We most definitely do need to get caught up! I still can’t believe that you had that reaction that lasted for so long, but at least it’s mostly gone and will hopefully be all gone soon! I feel like when you want to be cooped up in your apartment you always have a million things to do and when you want to get out you’re forced to be cooped up in your apartment. You can never get what you want!

  • Perfect low key weekend! I did not know the second season of unreal had started, i need to find out a way to watch it now that i cut the cord! Mmm crawfish! You know i have tried it! Big little lies was such a good finish!

    • It really was! I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to fit everything into BLL, but they did a great job with the finale! I found UnReal on Hulu+ and they have the entire season that you can stream. My sister cut the cord, so thankfully she lets me use her Netflix and Hulu accounts πŸ™‚

  • Jen

Sounds like a wonderful weekend to me!!! πŸ™‚ I love lazy times to just do nothing. πŸ™‚

  • What a fun weekend! I love the ones with no plans. Sleeping in, doing things around the house, and enjoying good food are the best.

    Meg, Borrowed Heaven

    • They really are, and I feel like if a weekend is filled with those things then you know that it’s going to be a good one!

  • That festival looked so fun, and yay for no alarms! So glad Chris was able to get home before the weather got really bad. Cheers to a fabulous week <3

    Green Fashionista

    • Thank you! The crawfish boil really was so much fun, and it was so cool to see the different craft breweries out there doing their thing. I was so glad that Chris was able to get home, but I think that he was even more thankful than I was!

  • Sounds like a super fun non-plan weekend! Lucky that Chris made it back despite the storms! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ & yay for that library card!! πŸ™‚ XO – Alexandra

    Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things

    • I’m seriously so excited to start renting all the books, but I know that I still have a huge Netgalley list to make it through! I was so glad that Chris made it back, he had to run to catch his last flight but he made it!

  • I’m so glad Chris made it back before the weather got rough! No plan weekends are just the best. I need one of those soon after a crazy month!

    • I know! I think that was our last easy weekend for a while because the next few months are going to be so crazy! That just makes you appreciate them even more though, right!

  • It’s always nice not to set an alarm, right?

    • It really is! We still wake up early, but it’s just nice to wake up early naturally than to be scared out of bed by an alarm!

  • Rachel

The storms were so crazy here last week! We had a tornado touch down super close to our house while I was 30 miles away at work and Ella was home alone. Needless to say I was acting like a crazy person hoping she made her way to the basement haha! Thankfully we didn’t have any damage at our house and Ella seemed to be ok by the time I made it home. We aren’t use to tornadoes here in the D.C. area! Glad Chris made it back home safely! Weekends without plans are always the best and so fun that Dart was able to run around off-leash. He looked like he was having so much fun when I saw him on Snapchat! Hope you’re week is off to a great start, Ashley!

    xo, Rachel
    A Blonde’s Moment

    • Thank you! I can’t even imagine how scary that must have been while trying to get home to Ella! I know that I would have been freaking out for Dart as well! We usually don’t have tornadoes either, but it seems like sometimes the weather has surprised us a little bit lately. Thankfully it hasn’t been close to our house. And Dart loves to be off the leash so much and it makes my heart so happy! I think that we need another long walk around the ponds this weekend!

  • Biana Perez

G and I always laugh when we say we’re going to be sleeping in on a weekend, but we wake up just as early as during the week LOL!! I love crawfish festivals – that’s one thing I miss about the south for sure! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • I totally agree, crawfish and all the fried foods is what makes the South so awesome! And even though we still wake up early, it’s still nice to wake up naturally early, rather than being jolted awake by an alarm clock! I swear if I could wake up at 7:00 every day, I would be so much happier lol!

  • With all of our busy schedules a zero plans weekend is definitely needed in the mix. Some of my favorite weekends are when no alarms are required. It’s nice to just go with the flow and relax sometimes, and yet still you found some time to have fun with friends and be productive around the house. Sounds perfect to me!

    • Exactly! I feel like usually on lazy weekends we’re not that productive as far as getting stuff done around the house, but thankfully last weekend we got stuff done! it was nice to have those few things done before people came over to our house for Easter. And the no alarm clock thing is seriously the best!

  • Those weekends are the best! I’ve been running around getting ready to move, so will look forward to a weekend of nothing soon!! Hurrah for a library card! I’ve just started 13 Reasons Why so will watch Big Little Lies next…

    • I’ve heard so many great things about 13 Reasons Why, so I know that it’s going to have to go on my Netflix list soon! So does that mean that you’ve come to a decision about where you’re going to live? Moving is probably the worst ever, but it’s always so nice when it’s officially done!

  • I need to watch the second season of Unreal I started it but then starting binge watching Vanderpump Rules. I can only have one trashy guilty pleasure show at a time. πŸ™ˆ

    • Haha my husband would love it if I only had one trashy show I watched at a time, but he really can’t talk too much because he watches Vanderpump Rules with me! I found UnReal on Hulu, so you’ll definitely have to check it out once you’re done with Vanderpump!

  • That sounds like my kind of weekend. Sometimes those are the BEST weekends!! I’m looking forward to one this weekend, actually.

    • They really are the best weekends, especially if you have zero plans but still manage to get stuff done. I hope that you enjoyed your relaxing weekend too!

  • I have never had crawfish! Are they like crab..? Quiet weekends are sometimes just necessary. Good food, family/friend time, catching up with jobs. It has to be done and I bet you feel so much better for it! We are learning on this trip that we need to make time to relax too (that being the point of this holiday, oops) hence me catching up on some blog reading before we hit some more temples later πŸ™‚

    • I’ve loved following along on your trip, and it looks like y’all are doing a pretty good job of getting some relaxing in among the activities that you want to do as well! And crawfish are a little bit more like shrimp/mini lobsters. All of the meat is in the tail and people will break the head off (some suck the head, just gross!) and then peel the tail off to get the meat. If they’re boiled with the right spices, they’re delicious!

  • We have that same “old people” tendency to wake up early and be ready to go even without alarms or any specific plans on the schedule. πŸ˜›

    • Haha I’m glad that I’m not the only one! I felt like my parents were always crazy for waking up so early, but now I completely understand why they were up at 8AM on a Saturday morning!

  • Yay for Chris getting home before the airport closing! That’s crazy!! I have so many flights this week – all booked separately – that I’m hoping for smooth travel plans. The spring weather always makes me a little nervous. Yay for a quiet weekend – I think those are really good for the soul most of the time!

    • I hope that you travels have gone smoothly so far! Chris was very lucky that he was able to catch his last flight to come home because as soon as one flight is delayed, it puts you in jeopardy of missing your other flights. I was very glad that we had a quiet weekend before Easter because even though it was family, it was nice to still relax!
