Wow, it’s so crazy to think that another 3 months has passed since the last 101 in 1001 check-in! I honestly thought that with this check-in that I would maybe cross off like one or two items, but I’m very happy to say that I’ve actually completed a few more items than I expected! I hope that I can continue to check more things off the list as I go!

17. Go on three girl’s trips. (2/3)

One of my best girlfriends and I have birthdays that are only 4 days apart and this year was a big one for us. We both turned the big 3-0! In order to celebrate we decided that a trip to Las Vegas would be perfect, and was it ever! This was Kayla’s first time in Sin City so we did all of the typical Vegas stuff, we gambled, went to a couple of shows (including BSB, which was perfect for these late 80’s babies!), ate some amazing food, and of course saw the Welcome to Las Vegas sign! We also did some not so typical Vegas things like The Mob Museum in Downtown Vegas and The Neon Museum. One of these days I’ll get around to blogging about this fabulous girls birthday weekend!

24. Take Dart to the beach.

For the weekend of my actual birthday, I knew that I wanted to get away from Houston, but I wanted it to be close and somewhere that Dart could actually go. Chris and I were going back and forth between Fredericksburg and Galveston, and Galveston ended up winning out because Chris had never been before. It was so much fun to see him run around the sand and get freaked out by the waves!

39. Organize our photos and music on our computer.

This is actually done! I’ve been pretty good lately about having a system of folders where we divide up our pictures by year, then month, and then break each month into a category for pictures. It’s helped me so much when it comes to making our family yearbooks!

Life

56. Get up to date on our family yearbooks.

I’ve very happy to say that I’ve made a conscious effort to get these done this year! I finally completed 2014 and started on 2015. I told you that I’m really far behind! I hope to be done with 2015 before June 30th so I can start and complete 2016!

57. Get up to date on our vacation photobooks.

This goes hand in hand with our family yearbooks, but I’ve found that I can’t really create our family yearbooks until after I’ve created our vacation photobooks because I end up adding too many pictures of our vacations into our yearbooks. First world problems I know. Anyways, I’ve found that creating the vacation books first is really helpful, and I’ve very happy to say that since our 2014 Family Yearbook is done, and our Northern California trip books are also completed! I’m hoping to get our Hawaii books done soon so that it won’t take forever to finish our 2015 Yearbook!

59. Get family of three pictures taken (me, Chris, and Dart).

When we found out that Dart had cancer, family pictures of the three of us became even more important to me. Luckily a friend from work’s wife has a photography business called Lindsey Marie Family Photography  and she took some beautiful pictures of the three of us back in March. I seriously love these pictures so much, and I know that I’ll treasure them forever! I just need to actually get them printed off one of these days!

61. Read 100 books. (84/100)

I’ve definitely been in the middle of a reading slump lately, but I’m hoping that will all turn around for me soon! Since this 101 in 1001 challenge has started I’ve read 7 books in 2015 and 56 books in 2016 and 21 books in 2017 for a grand total of 84 books. I’m hoping that I’ll get even more reading done on our long flight to Europe!

67. Finish watching the whole series of Friends. (Season 8)

Since all of our shows have been back on we really haven’t had a chance to watch that many episodes of Friends, but Chris has already said that it’s his goal that we finish it this summer. I’m definitely ok with that and can’t wait to finish it up!

My 6th Check-In for my 101 in 1001 Challenge! I'm about half way through the challenge and about half way through my 101 in things!

  • Nicole F

I love a 101 in 1001 check in. I have a list too and my end date is mid-September. It’s crunch time for me ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I have half my list completed as well. I need to be more mindful of my checklist.

    • I try to be mindful of my checklist but sometimes it’s hard! I swear I’m on the lazy train when it comes to trying to get my house stuff done! Hopefully you can get some more things checked off before your time is up!

  • You’re doing so well! I love your family pictures with Dart!!

    • Thank you! They turned out so perfectly and I’m in love with every one of them! I’m so glad that we did end up getting to take pictures all as a family!

  • The family pics with Dart are gorgeous! And yayyyyy for Friends!

    • Thank you! They couldn’t have turned out more perfectly! We’re slowly starting to watch more Friends now that the spring shows are winding down and I can’t wait to finally finish it!

  • Making great progress! This was a very ambitious goal.

    • I know! I don’t know what I was thinking with some of these goals, but hopefully I’ll be able to get more checked off!

  • Jen

I really love the idea of family yearbooks! I do them every 5 years for us and I might just have to start doing them yearly. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I love doing them yearly because you can add so many pictures and details into them! I swear we have so many random pictures of Dart that it’s awesome to see them all in there. The only bad thing is that it takes me forever to make them! Hopefully I can get caught up soon though!

  • You’ve crossed a lot off in the past 3 months! I freaking love those family pictures with Dart! I need to do that with my furbaby! And you’re not even going to know what to do when you finish Friends! Happy Friday doll!

    • I feel like I say this every time but I was surprised by how much we were able to do too! The photographer that we used was so perfect and she did such a good job! You totally should get some family pictures done or include your fur baby in one of your outfit posts. They’re really just so special! We just got to the episode where Rachel has the baby and I seriously can’t wait to see what happens next!

  • I love these goals and you’re doing a great job. I am so behind on everything related to scrapbooks and photo organization!! I am about a year behind on our scrapbooks and I have yet to make photo books for any of our recent vacations. Your post has inspired me to finally get moving!!

    • I love blogging so much but I definitely feel like that’s what has gotten me so far behind on getting family yearbooks and vacation books done. I’ve definitely decided to not post as much lately and I’m hoping that will give me more time to get them done. I love just being able to make them when I’m sitting on the couch watching tv! I hope that you can start knocking them off your list soon!

  • Nadine

You crossed off a lot of things in the past few months!! One of my friends just left for Vegas today with two girls that are turning 30. Must be the thing to do!!! I know you guys had fun with Dart at the beach. You don’t even want to know how far behind I am on my picture organizing. It’s completely out of control!!!

    • It really is amazing how hardness it is to keep everything organized, especially with iPhone pictures! I feel like the pictures that I take with my big camera are easier to organize because they’re usually for special occasions and all relate to one event. And Vegas is just so much fun for a girls trip but I think that it makes it even more fun if you get to celebrate something special, and the big 3-0 is definitely special!

  • Who you’ve read a ton of books this year. That’s awesome. I love that you guys got family photos with Dart. I should really consider doing some around Christmas time since we have never done them before.

    • You totally should get pictures done with Lola as Christmas would be the perfect time! Then you could use them for Christmas cards or something. I just think that they’re extra special pictures and ones that I’ll alway treasure!

  • Wow, you did awesome! So much fun travel!

  • The yearboook project is on my list!! I’d love to see more about how you do yours… but the truth is… I have so many photos to edit before that can happen, lol!

    • I know what you mean! I actually wrote a post forever ago about how I make my yearbooks, but pretty much I just divide everything up into months and then list out big moments and travels and quotes which is basically Facebook status updates. And then add pictures. It’s not too hard but I love that it keeps them all uniform and that I have our memories to look back on!

  • Wow, you’ve made great progress lately! Congrats! I gotta get back to working on my photo book too….

    • I feel like I get so far behind on everything yearbook and vacation book related because of blogging! At least it gets all of my pictures edited though! Hopefully we can get even more caught up on photobooks soon!

  • What company did you use for your books? I still haven’t finished 2015 but it’s so long already it’s like $100 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

    • I use blurb because I love that I can make my own pages and that I can work offline to make my books which is really handy when we’re in the country and have no internet. They usually run 40% off coupons pretty regularly too which is nice. The only thing I hate is that they don’t have lay flat pages! I’ve used shutterfly to make my parents some vacation books too and they turned out great.

  • You’ve done so great! I just love your family photos! I really need to organize photos, too.

    • Thank you! I was surprised by how much I was able to get done this time around, but I’ll take it! The family pictures are definitely my favorite part about the last three months! They’re just so perfect!

  • You’ve made such good progress since the last check-in! I’ve been slowly reworking my way through Friends and finally made it to season 9, even though I haven’t watched it very often lately. I might have missed your Vegas recap(?), but a neon museum sounds awesome/so intriguing!

    • We got back so late from our Vegas trip that I didn’t have a chance to write a recap yet, but hopefully it’ll be soon! Although at the rate that I’m writing it might be a little bit longer… and Friends is seriously so good! I don’t know what took us so long to watch it! I’m hoping that we’ll finish it this summer since all the shows will be pretty much done!

  • Those photos with you and Dart are gorgeous! I keep meaning to ask how he’s doing, is the treatment going well?

I’m impressed with you making yearbooks, I don’t do that and I think I maybe should. But I’m so disorganised (and I have so many photos). Now that we’ve decluttered our physical stuff, maybe I need to start a digital declutter like you. And maybe make some pretty books, too. I used to be a physical scrapbook maker but that just seems like waaaay too much work now. I think I’ll switch to photobooks ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I really need to write an update about Dart because it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything about him. He really is doing so well and finished off his IV chemo and is now doing a daily chemo pill. So far no signs of the cancer progressing which is exactly what we wanted and makes us thankful that we decided to go with chemo treatment.

And I totally agree that making photobooks is so much easier than scrapbooking! I scrapbooked in high school and college, but it just got too time consuming, plus I’m not saving as many paper items anymore so I don’t think that scrapbooking makes that much sense. Hopefully you can find a something that you want to do because I think that it’s so fun to have those pictures and memories that you can physically look at!

  • I love finding out how people organize their photos – I desperately need to do that; as well as getting them printed out into books. What a great idea!

    • I was so good at getting pictures printed out and then I just all of a sudden stopped so getting a book of all of them printed out is a great way to get pictures printed in an easy to look at form.

I swear my system isn’t that scientific for organizing pictures, but it works. I have a yearly folder then monthly folders and then event folders in the monthly folders. That way everything is pretty easy to find if you remember the year you took the picture!

  • You are doing such a great job! Getting photos in order is high on my list. I need to find the time to do it!

    • I think that once you find a system it’s not too bad to get them organized! Hopefully you can get it done soon! Plus since it’s kind of mindless you can always do it while you’re watching tv!

  • Organizing pictures is a good idea. Mine are a mess. I have a mac so iPhotos sort of does it on its own, but it’s still messy. Friends is awesome all the way through – I still like rewatching episodes and we watched the whole thing last year.

    • I have to admit that I really don’t like the way that iPhoto’s organizes pictures because it never made that much sense to me. I ended up getting an external hard drive to save all of my pictures on which has made things easier for me. But ultimately I think that it’s all about finding a system that works for you. And Friends really is so awesome and I don’t know why it took me so long to watch it! We’re almost done with season 8 and I can’t wait to finish watching it!

  • Wow you’re doing super well! Mine just ended and I had no idea it was time. I only did so-so. But I also think my goals have changed a lot in almost 3 years. I may do another one though. Good luck finishing yours up. I just love those family photos. XO – Alexandra

    • I think that you’re totally right about goals changing which is why I think that this challenge is hard, which I guess that’s why they call it a challenge! I need to go and read your post and see how you did!
