Happy Monday everybody! This past weekend was definitely one for the books because we finally found out what the genders are of our little babies and spent some amazing time with family! If you missed my announcement on Instagram this weekend, read on to see what we’re having, and of course, I’m linking up with the amazing Biana for some weekending action!
I was definitely ready to get home on Friday because I was so looking forward to not only seeing Chris’s parents and oldest brother and his family, but also because I was just ready for the weekend to start for our gender reveal! Chris’s parents were already at the house when I got home, so after chatting for a little bit we decided to head out for dinner before everybody else arrived. We decided that we were all in the mood for pizza so we headed out to Grimaldi’s before heading back home.
We had a few things that we needed to get done before the gender reveal on Saturday, so when we got home we relaxed for a little bit before getting started on our party to do list. We we were trying to think of an easy lunch idea for the gender reveal and when we started to think about what I’ve been obsessed with lately, it was easy to choose a nacho bar for lunch. Because my family was planning on getting over around 10ish the next day we went on ahead and prepped the beef and chicken for the nachos along with the homemade salsa I made.
By the time we were done prepping, Chris’s brother and his family arrived from Dallas. We spent some time catching up, and before we knew it was midnight so everybody decided to turn in.
We woke up bright and early Saturday morning because we still had some things to do before my mom and sister arrived to help decorate for the gender reveal. We cooked a big breakfast for everybody before we did the last little bit of food prepping for the gender reveal. Before we knew it, I had to get ready because it was almost time for my mom and sister to arrive!
My mom and sister both found out the sexes of the babies at our last big ultrasound, so they were the ones that were in charge of pulling the actual gender reveal together and they also bought a lot of really cute decorations for the party as well. They put together two different boxes marked Twin A and Twin B and put the color balloons of the babies in each box. They had also bought a cute banner that said “Lillis Twins” on it, some blue and pink confetti, some blue and pink straws for drinks, and some “Two Peas In A Pod” pins that had either two pink peas two blue peas or a blue and a pink pea on them to let people decide what they thought the babies were going to be. And literally the icing on the cake was the fact that my sister also got a Nothing Bundt Cake for us to dig into for dessert, which was delicious like always!
We were planning on doing the gender reveal after lunch since my cousin was going to be driving through town and we wanted her to be there, but she was going to be running late so we decided to do it a little bit early. We FaceTimed Chris’s other brother and his family and it was time to open up the boxes for the big reveal!
When we opened up the first box I was literally so excited to see those pink balloons pop up! I had thought that we’d be having girls, but I didn’t know if it was a feeling or more of a really big want for me to have a girl. I honestly would have been happy either way, two girls or two boys or one of each, but I was literally so ecstatic to know that I was having one girl! After everybody had finished being so excited for a little girl it was time to open up the box for Twin B! I was literally so shocked and excited when I saw more pink balloons inside the second box! We’re officially having two baby girls! Everybody started cheering, and while Chris was a little disappointed to not being have a boy, he’s very excited to be a girl dad!
The rest of the day was spent talking with family and eating some amazing nachos! My cousin stopped by with her family for a little bit too before they finished driving to Galveston for their beach vacation. My parents and sister ended up leaving a little later on in the afternoon and before we knew it, it was time for dinner!
We had promised our niece a trip to the pool during their trip, so we decided that after dinner would be the perfect time, and it really was! The sun was just setting so we didn’t need a ton of sunscreen, and there also weren’t a ton of people there either. We had a nice hour swim before heading back home and playing a great game of Pandemic! Trust me, it was just as addicting as when played at the lake, and we all won! After the busy day that we’d had, we were all exhausted so we all turned into bed afterwards!
We slept in a little bit later on Sunday morning, but woke up with enough time to cook some breakfast for everybody. The morning was still a kind of lazy morning and we didn’t do a whole lot around the house before everybody decided to eat some lunch and hit the road to go back home. Chris and I spent a little bit of time picking up around the house afterwards, but we really just spent the rest of the day relaxing around the house. Thankfully we didn’t have to go grocery shopping because we had so much food leftover from the shower!
To say that it was a fantastic weekend would be an understatement. I’m still beyond excited for our two little girls, and now I can’t wait to start picking out everything for their nursery, newborn pictures, and just about everything else! It’s going to be so much fun to finally get to order things for our sweet baby girls!
Did you have a good weekend? Have you ever had a gender reveal?
