Happy Monday everybody! This past weekend was definitely one for the books because we finally found out what the genders are of our little babies and spent some amazing time with family! If you missed my announcement on Instagram this weekend, read on to see what we’re having, and of course, I’m linking up with the amazing Biana for some weekending action!

The Wandering Weekenders- A Twin Gender Reveal Weekend

Friday

I was definitely ready to get home on Friday because I was so looking forward to not only seeing Chris’s parents and oldest brother and his family, but also because I was just ready for the weekend to start for our gender reveal! Chris’s parents were already at the house when I got home, so after chatting for a little bit we decided to head out for dinner before everybody else arrived. We decided that we were all in the mood for pizza so we headed out to Grimaldi’s before heading back home.

We had a few things that we needed to get done before the gender reveal on Saturday, so when we got home we relaxed for a little bit before getting started on our party to do list. We we were trying to think of an easy lunch idea for the gender reveal and when we started to think about what I’ve been obsessed with lately, it was easy to choose a nacho bar for lunch. Because my family was planning on getting over around 10ish the next day we went on ahead and prepped the beef and chicken for the nachos along with the homemade salsa I made.

By the time we were done prepping, Chris’s brother and his family arrived from Dallas. We spent some time catching up, and before we knew it was midnight so everybody decided to turn in.

Saturday

We woke up bright and early Saturday morning because we still had some things to do before my mom and sister arrived to help decorate for the gender reveal. We cooked a big breakfast for everybody before we did the last little bit of food prepping for the gender reveal. Before we knew it, I had to get ready because it was almost time for my mom and sister to arrive!

My mom and sister both found out the sexes of the babies at our last big ultrasound, so they were the ones that were in charge of pulling the actual gender reveal together and they also bought a lot of really cute decorations for the party as well. They put together two different boxes marked Twin A and Twin B and put the color balloons of the babies in each box. They had also bought a cute banner that said “Lillis Twins” on it, some blue and pink confetti, some blue and pink straws for drinks, and some “Two Peas In A Pod” pins that had either two pink peas two blue peas or a blue and a pink pea on them to let people decide what they thought the babies were going to be. And literally the icing on the cake was the fact that my sister also got a Nothing Bundt Cake for us to dig into for dessert, which was delicious like always!

We were planning on doing the gender reveal after lunch since my cousin was going to be driving through town and we wanted her to be there, but she was going to be running late so we decided to do it a little bit early. We FaceTimed Chris’s other brother and his family and it was time to open up the boxes for the big reveal!

When we opened up the first box I was literally so excited to see those pink balloons pop up! I had thought that we’d be having girls, but I didn’t know if it was a feeling or more of a really big want for me to have a girl. I honestly would have been happy either way, two girls or two boys or one of each, but I was literally so ecstatic to know that I was having one girl! After everybody had finished being so excited for a little girl it was time to open up the box for Twin B! I was literally so shocked and excited when I saw more pink balloons inside the second box! We’re officially having two baby girls! Everybody started cheering, and while Chris was a little disappointed to not being have a boy, he’s very excited to be a girl dad!

The rest of the day was spent talking with family and eating some amazing nachos! My cousin stopped by with her family for a little bit too before they finished driving to Galveston for their beach vacation. My parents and sister ended up leaving a little later on in the afternoon and before we knew it, it was time for dinner!

The Wandering Weekenders- A Twin Gender Reveal Weekend

We had promised our niece a trip to the pool during their trip, so we decided that after dinner would be the perfect time, and it really was! The sun was just setting so we didn’t need a ton of sunscreen, and there also weren’t a ton of people there either. We had a nice hour swim before heading back home and playing a great game of Pandemic! Trust me, it was just as addicting as when played at the lake, and we all won! After the busy day that we’d had, we were all exhausted so we all turned into bed afterwards!

Sunday

We slept in a little bit later on Sunday morning, but woke up with enough time to cook some breakfast for everybody. The morning was still a kind of lazy morning and we didn’t do a whole lot around the house before everybody decided to eat some lunch and hit the road to go back home. Chris and I spent a little bit of time picking up around the house afterwards, but we really just spent the rest of the day relaxing around the house. Thankfully we didn’t have to go grocery shopping because we had so much food leftover from the shower!

To say that it was a fantastic weekend would be an understatement. I’m still beyond excited for our two little girls, and now I can’t wait to start picking out everything for their nursery, newborn pictures, and just about everything else! It’s going to be so much fun to finally get to order things for our sweet baby girls!

Did you have a good weekend? Have you ever had a gender reveal?

All about our twin gender reveal weekend and all the details for the reveal!

  • Congrats!! My mom and step-mom are both twins (with twin sisters) and they are ridiculously close – as an only child, I’m super jealous! Even if things get hard in their adolescence, it is so cool to know that they will always have a best friend!

    • That’s what we keep on saying, that even though it’ll be hard having two at once, it’s going to be so nice that they’ll always have somebody to play with. That’s so cool that both your mom and your stepmom are both twins! What are the odds?

  • Congrats again on your two sweet baby girls!!! Love all the details and super impressed that your mom and sister could keep the secret!! 😉

    • I know! My mom is definitely not one that’s very good at keeping secrets, but I was so proud of her for keeping this one for so long! I loved all of the details, and we’re beyond excited for two little girls!

  • So so happy for you. The pics are priceless to see your reactions and so special. Yay for baby girls 💕💕

    • Thank you! We’re so excited, and I love that there are so many of us that are having little girls this year! And my niece totally got a video of us opening the boxes, and to hear Chris’s reaction is so hysterical and priceless!

  • omg pamela and i were hanging out while we were waiting to see what you guys were having.i voted one boy and one girl and then was so excited to see two girls! girls all over lately! congrats you guys!!

    xoxo cheshire kat

    • I know, and I’m so excited to be joining the ranks of girl mom! I honestly was so surprised to see pink balloons in both boxes because I really thought that we’d be having a boy and a girl too! But let’s face it, I’m super excited about two little girls!

  • Omg I’m so excited!!! Congrats, y’all!!!

  • Congratulations!! Yay, two little girls! I can’t wait to hear what their names are one day! I think girl names are so fun and easy, but boy names are so hard to come up with. It sounds like you had the perfect gender reveal party. What a fun celebration weekend!

    • It’s so funny that you say that because it’s so true! We had two girl names nailed down, but it was a little hard to come up with a second boy name. The girls names that we love are Addison and Isabelle, and now it’s just trying to nail down the middle names! And it really couldn’t have been a more perfect weekend surrounded by both of our families!

  • I’m so very happy for you both!! Twin girls are the best! Ok, I might be a little bias but they are.!! Being a twin is awesome and very special. It’s nice to have a partner in crime. Bring on the double trouble!! haha

    • Haha I know that I would have been happy no matter what genders they were, but I’m so ecstatic about having two little girls! I love the fact that they’ll be able to play together and always have a friend! The couple trouble will definitely be worth it for all the other good that comes with baby girls!

  • Biana Perez

I was so excited when I saw the news over the weekend! Chris’s face is priceless after opening the second box LOL!! Yay for all things pink! xo, biana –BlovedBoston

    • Haha I know! He was so hoping for a little boy, but he’s getting more and more excited about all the pink and little girls which I love! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect weekend, and I’m so excited to shop for all of the girly and pink stuff!

  • Emily Dunham

How fun!!!! Congrats!!!!! I love all the decorations and I am with Biana – the expression on Chris’s face was super fun!!!

    • Thank you! And I know, his expression is too funny! He really wanted a little boy, but he’s getting more excited about having little girls now! I’m just glad that we have these pictures to save for forever!

  • Congratulations! What an adorable party and reveal. I know Chris wanted a boy, but I’m sure those little girls will have him wrapped around their fingers in no time. 😉 Your reactions in the pictures are too sweet!

    • Haha that’s what I kept on telling him before we even knew that we were going to be having girls that if we had girls that he would be wrapped around their little fingers! But I think that he’ll be a good girl dad and I know that he’s getting more and more excited about having little girls now! And thank you, I was so happy with how everything turned out and loved everything that my mom and sister did!

  • Congratulations, and what a beautiful reveal! Those two little girls are going to be just so darling! <3

  • Living on Cloud Nine

My dream came true! Remember I dreamt awhile back you were having girls!!! Sooooo excited for you guys! I don’t have Insta so I’m so excited to hear this! sending you hugs and LOVE!!

    • Yes! I’m so glad that your dream came true! While I definitely would have been happy no matter what, I’m super excited to buy all the cute little girl things! And thank you so much! We’re seriously so excited!

  • Nadine

I was soooo excited when I saw your FB post on Saturday that I literally squealed out loud! Twin girls!! EEEEHHHHH make room for all the pink things!!! Chris’s expression on the second box is priceless. Poor guy is going to be so outnumbered!!! Congrats again, I am so excited for you guys!

    • Haha that’s exactly what he said! He had actually just gotten me a pretty picture frame for our anniversary that had a picture of him and Dart in it, and I had wanted to say that it was my boys but couldn’t say it for sure until we found out the genders. Now he’s adamant that we’re definitely only having boy dogs for the rest of our lives! And oh my goodness, I’m so excited to buy all the pink things, and it’s already started! I can’t wait to start getting their nursery ready to go!

  • Your expressions are priceless!!! So happy for you guys! <3 Congratulations!

  • Oh my gosh so fun! I love the photos and the faces as you see the balloons! Chris is going to be SO outnumbered! hehehe But it will be great. My dad is a guy’s guy who loves all things outdoors, etc. and he has three daughters and no sons. He even learned to braid my hair. Chris will be a great dad to little girls! 🙂 XO – Alexandra

    Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things

    • That’s exactly what I thought for so long too! And my dad is the exact same way, a man’s man through and through, but he was a really good girl dad and did our hair growing up too! I think that what really sealed the deal for him was when I started showing him all the cute camo stuff that I found on Etsy and he basically melted. And I’m so glad that we have all of these pictures to remember the gender reveal!

  • Rachel

haha! How funny when Chris sees another box full of pink balloons! So excited for you guys! Two girls will be so fun to dress. Our next door neighbors have twin girls and they are always dressed alike. Their mom says it makes it easier for laundry (haha!) but they always look so cute! What a fun weekend with your families. Happy Monday, Ashley!

    xo, Rachel
    A Blonde’s Moment

    • Haha that’s so true and I never thought about it being easier for laundry! I have to admit that I love the idea of having two girls because it would be so much fun to dress them alike! And Chris really wasn’t expecting two little girls, but he’s really loving it right now and is getting into all the pink and frills! It really was such a great weekend!

  • Congratulations! They are going to be best friends for life! And life is great with a sister. I am hungry for nachos now, sounds so good!

    • Haha we had nachos for like the rest of the week, but I totally didn’t care! And yes life with a sister is so awesome, and I hope that they’re just as close as my sister and I are!

  • Congratulations! How very exciting!

  • Yaaayyy so exciting! OMG that look when the second set of pink balloons comes out is comical!

    Meg, Borrowed Heaven

    • I know! I don’t think that he was expecting to have both sets of balloons be pink, but he’s getting really excited about it!

  • I could not be any more excited for you guys! I’m sure Chris is a little disappointed but he’ll have two daddy’s girls running around now! Kerri and I were betting it was a boy and a girl so we were surprised when we saw your Snap!

    • That’s totally what Chris and I thought too, that it would be one of each, so we were both so surprised when it was two girls! Chris is definitely coming around to the idea of having girls, especially when he sees all of the cute stuff that little girls can have!

  • LOVE the photos of the two of you during the reveal! I am so excited for the two of you! You are going to be the best momma to twin girls! <3 I love the nacho bar idea!

    • Thank you so much! We’re so excited, and I’m loving being able to shop for all of the little girl things! And I was so glad that we had our families there with us because these pictures are so priceless and I love them!

  • Jen

Oh my goodness!!! I am thrilled for you guys! 🙂 What lucky little girls to have such amazing parents. 🙂

    • Thank you! We’re seriously so excited, and Chris is loving the idea of two little girls even more! All of the little girls stuff is just so cute!

  • YAY!!! I’m so excited for you both 🙂

  • Over the moon excited for you and Chris! Now you can start really planning the nursery decor and such. I got a good laugh at Chris’s expression when the Twin B box was opened. Sounds like your mom and sis pulled off an amazing gender reveal party for you guys and all the cute decor to show for it! xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

    • Thank you, we’re so excited, despite Chris’s face in that picture! Although, that was definitely the benefit of having all of our family there, we got some pretty priceless reactions of us opening up the boxes! And I was so thankful for everything my mom and sister did for the reveal! They pulled it off so well, and I’m so proud that they were able to keep a secret for that long!

  • Super, super excited for you two!! What a sweet gender reveal – so nice to have both your families there!

    • Thank you! It still really doesn’t feel real that we’re having two little girls! And it seriously was the best having our families there, plus we got some pretty priceless pictures out of it as well!

  • Oh my gosh, so exciting! My cousin just had twin baby girls a few weeks ago and it’s so fun!!

    • That’s so exciting, and congrats to your cousin! We’re seriously over the moon about the idea of having two little girls running around soon!

  • Nicole F

Congrats! I’m so glad I made time to go through my Bloglovin feed. I didn’t want to miss this!

    • Thank you! We were seriously so excited when we found out, and I couldn’t wait to share the news with everybody!

  • Ahhh! I did miss the news on Instagram so I’m very glad to see this here! HOW CUTE two little girls! What a lovely way to find out, and I love the photos of you opening the boxes. I hope you enjoy all the girl related planning and decorating!

    • Thank you! My sister and mom did such a great job of putting together everything for the reveal, and we’re seriously so excited to have two little girls, despite Chris’s face in some of these pictures. I’m already going into full on planning mode, and I’m loving it!

  • Erin

SO exciting… two baby girls!!! 🙂 I love all the decor and the boxes your fam decorated for the reveal. I actually just got to sample a Nothing Bundt Cake for the first time over the weekend- DEFINITELY Delicious!!!

    • Seriously, Nothing Bundt Cakes is the best! When I was talking to my sister about the reveal, she pretty much insisted on having a Nothing Bundt Cake because she loves them so much too. And we’re so excited for two little girls, and I’m loving all of the planning that I’m getting to do!

  • Ahh so exciting! I feel like twins would be the most exciting of gender reveals since you got to have the excitement of opening two boxes.

    • I totally agree, getting to open up two boxes was seriously so much fun, and the anticipation was also killing us too! We’re both still so over the moon about having two little girls!

  • I teared up looking at the picture of you and Chris opening up the second box and finding out you’re having two girls. Two girls, how exciting!! I am so happy for you two and can’t wait to follow along when they get here!

    • Haha I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one that teared up during the gender reveal! I was so excited when we opened up that first box and saw the pink balloons, but I was even more excited when I saw the second box open up with pink balloons! I know that Chris was hoping for some blue, but he’s getting really excited about having two girls!

  • yay, girls! congrats – love your dress by the way!

  • Chesson Parker

YAY for two sweet little girls! Congratulations!

  • Christina Sotherden

Two girls!!! So exciting – all the pink, the matching outfits – so much fun! So excited for you guys!! I think finding out the gender was for sure my favorite moment so far for us!

    • I totally agree! I felt like it made it more real because we could start referring to them by name, and by gender too. And it’s seriously so hard to not buy all of the matching outfits I see. There’s just so many cute outfits out there!

  • So excited for you guys! Ahhh two girls! Chris is totally outnumbered now lol

  • Aww! Congratulations on having two girls, that’s so exciting! 😀

  • SO exciting and congrats again! Team Pink is the best, and you’re going to have so much fun with them. I was sooooo wrong when I messaged you and said I thought it was Team Blue all the way. And the pic of Chris when the second box opened up – priceless <3

    Green Fashionista

    • Haha well I was partially wrong too because I was convinced that we were having one and one! And I’m seriously so excited for all of the girl things! I’m trying my best to stay off of the clothing websites right now, but I’m loving getting their nursery together! And I’m so glad that we have all of these pictures to remember the gender reveal because Chris’s face really is so priceless!

  • Biana Perez

I’m so excited for you guys! Double the fun with your little girls! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston

  • omg! so exciting!!!! they are going to be the cutest little girls ever!!!

  • SO excited for you guys! I can’t wait to see what you do with the nursery!

  • I haven’t been blogging or commenting, but I have to tell you that pretty much the only posts I’ve been reading are pregnancy updates from you, Olya, and another blogger named Blake due in December! I’m so excited for you guys! I haven’t posted anything, but we’re having a girl too! <3

    • It’s definitely so much fun to read all of the pregnancy updates from other bloggers, especially since it seems like there’s so many of us that are pregnant right now! I’m seriously so happy for you and your husband and that’s so exciting that y’all are having a little girl too! I’ve been trying really hard to not buy too many clothes right now, but it’s seriously so hard!
