TBB Asks- February

Happy February everybody, and happy long time no blog! Things have been pretty crazy around these parts with two babies and then heading back to work on top of it, that I really haven’t been able to find the time to blog. I’m hoping that once I’m back at work for a little while I’ll finally be able to get more into a schedule and have the time to blog after the girls have gone to sleep in the evenings. Anyways, a great way to ease myself back into the whole blogging game is by linking up with Andrea and the other ladies at The Blended Blog for some TBB Asks- Valentine’s Day Edition!

The Wandering Weekenders- TBB Asks February

  1. Kisses or Hugs?
I would definitely have to say hugs because hugs remind me of cuddling. Although if I’m being honest I’d probably like the kisses candy more than the hugs candy!
  2. Candy or Flowers?
This is definitely a tough one! I love how beautiful flowers look but I’m notorious for killing them rather quickly. Chris has gotten to the point that he knows that if he buys me flowers that he has to keep them alive. And what girl wouldn’t want to get some sort of candy on Valentine’s Day! So can I say that I’d love to get both?
  3. Baking or Cooking?
I definitely love baking over cooking. The Type A Accountant in me has to have everything precise which is probably why I love baking so much. Chris is a lot better at being able to throw things together which is probably why he likes cooking more. You can fudge the recipe a little bit and you’ll still be ok.
  4. Do you remember your first kiss?
Technically I think that my first kiss was at daycare and I was the girl that would run around the playground and kiss all the boys. But other than that my first kiss was with my first boyfriend in high school.
  5. Favorite color of Roses?
I really love all colors of roses. If I’m being a true Texan then I guess that I should say that I love yellow roses, but pink and red and white are all pretty too!
  6. Conversation Hearts, yes or no?
Not at all! I hate the way that they taste, although I do love my conversation heart wine glasses that Erin got me last year for Galentine’s Day!
The Wandering Weekenders- Beyond Words A Man Called Ove
  7. Do you leave love notes?
I’m really terrible about leaving love notes and I don’t do it all. I normally text Chris that I love him though.
  8. Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
I don’t, unless you count the M&M’s that I have that are in Valetine’s Day colors. My mom was always awesome about decorating for all the holidays growing up, and I hope that I can do that for the girls when they get older.
  9. Red or Pink?
Pink of course! Although not going to lie a red lip for Valentine’s Day is really beautiful!
  10. Milk, White or Dark Chocolate?
I definitely have to say milk chocolate! I’m not a huge fan of dark or white chocolate actually, but let’s face it if it’s put in front of me I’m for sure going to eat it!
  11. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Nope, I don’t. I believe that you can fall in lust with somebody, but I don’t think that you can love somebody until you truly know them.
  12. Do you give Humorous or Serious Valentine Cards?
I like to give funny Valentine’s! Ones with animals on them are the best in my opinion!
  13. Favorite Chick Flick or Romantic Movie?
I have a lot that I love- 10 Things I Hate About You, Pride & Prejudice and Love Actually are a few of my favorites!
  14. Stay In or Go Out?
Usually Chris and I don’t do anything big for Valentine’s Day, but we do like to go out for a nice dinner in town, but generally not actually on Valentine’s Day because it’s always too chaotic. Last year we went to a new restaurant called One Fifth where the chef changes up the style and type of food every year for one year. Last year it was a steak restaurant and this year it’s romance language foods- so French, Italian, and Spanish food. We might not make it there this year because we’re pretty busy with the girls, but we’d still like to try and make its there before it changes up!

And there you have, my answers to the Valentine’s Day prompts for the the TBB Asks! Valentine’s Day really snuck up on us this year, although I think that I’ll be saying this about everything this year! Now it’s your turn to answer! Do you agree or disagree with any of my answer?

TBB Asks- January

It’s so crazy that it’s already the second week of January, and that my maternity leave is winding down and almost over! It’s still so hard to believe! Our weekend was pretty much the same as it’s been lately with a ton of baby happenings like feedings and changing diapers, but the exciting part was that my cousin came into town to spend the weekend with us. She was seriously such a help by cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us and just holding and hanging out with babies. It was so nice to have the help around, especially since Friday was my first day home alone with the girls and there might have been a meltdown or two. Needless to say, she couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Anyways, I’m changing it up a little bit and I’m linking up with Andrea and The Blended Blog for some TBB Asks to kick off January!

The Wandering Weekenders- TBB Asks January

  1. Resolutions or no resolutions?
Usually I’m a resolution type of person, but this year I didn’t even have time to think about one! That being said I usually stick to the same resolutions every year anyways: trying to eat healthier and try to work out more.
  2. Love snow or no snow?
I totally love snow, but I think that’s because snow is still just such a novelty to us down in the South and it doesn’t happen very often. We actually got snow this year in Houston and everybody freaked out! I’m sure that if I lived up North I’d hate the snow, but I would love to have a white Christmas one of these years!

  3. Name a new place you want to go this year?
I honestly don’t know if we’ll be taking any trips this year where we have to fly with the girls because it honestly freaks me out with them being so young right now. But I would love to try and drive somewhere with them and do a road trip. There’s multiple places around that would be fun for us to visit that are within driving distance, so we’ll see if we can try to get something planned! I’m thinking maybe Hot Springs Arkansas or even a road trip across Texas to Marfa and Big Bend!
  4. Would you rather have a new hair cut or hair color?
I’m not one that can change up her hair style too much, it’s pretty much either long or short, but about a year and a half ago I made the plunge and went blonde. I have to admit that I love it, and I don’t know if I’ll ever go back!
The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend With A Change In Color
  5. Name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year?
I have to admit that it’ll be hard to do anything for myself this year with the girls being so young, but I’d love to maybe have a little quiet time to myself to just relax. Or maybe to go on a trip with my girlfriends or something like that. We’ll have to wait and see if I can get something planned!
  6. Least favorite thing about January?
I still really hate that January is so cold (kind of an oxymoron considering that I do like snow), but I also hate how dark it gets because it’s still daylight savings time. I also hate how long it takes me to get used to writing down the new year when I’m dating things!
  7. Most favorite thing about January?
The fact that it represents such a new beginning to the year and anything else that you might want. It’s a chance to start fresh and make the most of the year to come.
  8. When do you take down your Holiday decorations?
We try to take them down as close to the beginning of January as possible. Thankfully my cousin came in town this weekend to help us out so that Chris could take everything down and get it put up. It’s always hard though because we have Christmas with Chris’s side of the family at New Years so we don’t want to take down our decorations just yet, but the beginning of the year also marks the busy time of the year for me at work so it’s a Catch 22.
  9. Do you diet in January?
I always tend to diet in January although I try not to go too extreme one way or the other. Generally Chris and I try to be better about meal planning and eat meals that are better for us, and that usually works for us. If I tried to go extreme diet I totally wouldn’t survive!
  10. What area of your home do you want to organize the most?
I’d say probably my closet. At least before the girls were born I went through and got rid of a bunch of clothes that don’t fit anymore, but it’s still not really organized too much. Who knows when I’ll have time for that though!
  11. Favorite Winter Comfort Food?
Without out a doubt the thing that I love the most during the winter is soups, stews, and chilis! What’s even better about all of those is that they can usually be thrown in to a crockpot for easy cooking!
  12. Favorite Guilty Pleasure
My favorite guilty pleasure will always be reality TV! I seriously can’t get enough of all the Real Housewives and The Bachelor and Big Brother and pretty much anything else you can think of. Yes I have a problem, but I still love it so much!

I always love The TBB Asks every month because I feel like it’s a great way to start thinking about what’s happening with the coming month. This year is a little different for me as far as New Years Resolutions go, but I’m excited to see what 2018 has in store for us!

Do you have any New Years Resolutions for the year? Do you have any guilty pleasures that you’re trying to kick?

TBB Asks September- Back To School Edition

Happy Labor Day everybody! I’m still weekending on this long first weekend of September, but I’m linking up with Andrea and the girls at The Blended Blog for their TBB Asks Back-To-School-Edition! So I hope you enjoy these questions that will take you on a little trip down memory lane!

The Wandering Weekenders- TBB Asks September- Back To School Edition

  1. Did you love school or hate it?
Even though I groaned about having to wake up early, I really did love school. I loved getting new clothes and all of the new school supplies too!
  2. Start school before or after Labor Day?
In Texas we always started school before Labor Day. Things have changed a little bit since I was in school, but we always started early August and got out of school way before Memorial Day. Now the kids normally start late August, still before Labor Day and get out closer to Memorial Day, sometimes afterwards.
  3. Wake up: eager beaver or slow poke?
I definitely was a lot easier to wake up when I was younger than I am now, although I definitely think that part of my problem now is that I have social media to look at when I wake up in the morning.
  4. Favorite breakfast?
I’m not a huge breakfast person at all, so I usually just stuck with cereal or toast for breakfast during school. That being said, if I’m going to eat breakfast, I’m always going to go for breakfast tacos because they’re the best!
The Wandering Weekenders- TBB Asks September- Back To School Edition
  5. Favorite cereal?
Frosted Mini Wheats or Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

  6. School uniform or no school uniform?
We had those amazing school uniforms that included the pleated skirts…
  7. New outfit for first day or no?
When we didn’t have uniforms we always had a new outfit for school, and my mom always took a picture of us on the first day.
  8. Walk to school or ride the bus?
In Elementary School we always walked to school since we weren’t on a bus route, but when I started going to private school they didn’t have a bus route so my dad would drop me off.
  9. Backpack, tote or messenger bag?
Always a backpack, even in college!
  10. Eat school lunch or pack lunch?
I had a pretty good mix of both, but usually my mom would pack my lunch 3 or 4 days a week and then normally I’d get pizza on Fridays.
  11. Remember the little milk cartons? White or chocolate?
Yes! And I’m a white milk girl always!
  12. Paper bag or lunch box?
Lunch box! It was always so much fun to get to pick out a new one every year!
  13. Favorite thing to do at recess?
We always used to play games with each other which included a lot of tag.
  14. Favorite back to school supply item?
I always loved new markers and colored pencils.
  15. Chalkboard or dry erase marker?
Dry erase markers. I hated the mess that chalk made.
  16. Regular pencil or mechanical?
    Mechanical
  17. Homework as soon as you got home or afternoon?
I’m still a little bit of a procrastinator, but I usually tried to get my homework done after I got home from school. If it was writing a paper, I usually got that done closer to the due date.
  18. Favorite after school snack?
    Those Little Debbie’s Cosmic Brownies

  19. Favorite after school show?
My sister always loved to watch Doug and Rugrats after school!

  21. Least favorite school subject?
I was never a huge fan of science.
  22. Name of your best friend in high school?
    Kristen
  23. High school mascot type?
    We were the Cougars
  24. SAT or ACT?
I took both, but did way better on the SAT since I forgot my calculator for the ACT.
  25. Favorite year in school?
My senior year! It was so much fun, and I couldn’t wait for college!
  26. Class Ring or no Class Ring?
I got a class ring, but I didn’t wear it after high school. I still wear my college ring, but that’s because the Aggie Ring is kind of a big deal.
The Wandering Weekenders- TBB Asks September- Back To School Edition
  27. Attend or not attend high school reunion?
I have not attended any high school reunions. I don’t really keep in contact with that many people from school.

And there you have it! Are any of your answers similar to mine? Did you look forward to school starting?
