When I was thinking about people to guest post while I was in Europe, Evelina from Fortunate House immediately came to mind because she just got back from her own European trip to Poland to visit her family that lives there! I loved following along on her adventures in Poland on Snapchat and Instagram, and I knew that she’d have some great insights for all of y’all that are planning your own trip soon! Thank you so much Evelina for writing this awesome post!
Hi guys! I’m Evelina and I blog one at Fortunate House. I was so excited when Ashley reached out to me to write a guest post while she’s off enjoying her time in Europe. She writes one of my favourite blogs and always has the best travel posts!
So to keep things on theme, I put together a quick guide to my four favourite cities in Poland. Why Poland? Well, I was born there and frequently go back to visit my family (we were there just last month!) so I know the country pretty well. I highly recommend it as a stop if you’re travelling throughout Europe!
These are the most important cities to visit (imo) if you find yourself in Poland. Each have their own special charm and old historical significance. One of my favourite things about Europe in general is the history.
Ok, so not usually the #1 city on most people’s lists but I put it as #1 on my list because it’s where I’m from! It is so beautiful and special to me and I encourage everyone to go visit! (Pronounced Shcheh-cheen)
Warsaw is the capital of Poland and probably the city that most people think of. It is kind of like the “New York” of Poland — where all the most important events take place, where the most companies are headquartered and where the celebs live.
WARSAW – The Royal Castle (via)
Krakow is probably the most visited city in Poland. It’s old town square is so stunning and the castle is where all of the most important kings and queens lived and ruled. Everything is so well preserved. I’d say that if you only have a few hours in all of Poland, visit Krakow! There is also a very famous salt mine nearby that is unbelievable!
Ahhhh the Baltic Sea, where I spent so much of my childhood. Gdansk is a city situated right on the coast of the Baltic and has so many beautiful colourful facades on the main square. It’s where all the vacationers go to enjoy their summers.
I hope that you make Poland a stop when you’re travelling through Europe. It is really a very beautiful country has has so much to offer. So much more than I talked about in this post!
Ashley, I hope you are having a wonderful time on your trip and I wish you safe travels! Thanks again for having me!
