10 Best Destinations For A Girls Trip

For the past few years, my girlfriends and I have tried to take a trip together every year. We were all so close in college, and then afterwards we all moved to different parts of the state and country (and eventually to another country altogether), so a trip together was the perfect way to stay close. Obviously this year we decided on Charleston for our destination, but I thought that it’d be fun to talk about some other great destinations for an amazing girls trip for this Wanderlust Wednesday with Kerri, Kate, and Emily!

The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend

  1. Charleston- When we were thinking about a place for this year’s girls trip, Charleston just seemed like the perfect place. Not only is it one of the oldest cities in the United States, but it’s also extremely beautiful and girly with the all of the amazing architecture (read perfect for Instagram!). You also can’t beat the amazing food scene either! Another appeal of Charleston is the fact that it’s a smaller city, so it was easy to navigate and get around, and also relatively inexpensive compared to the other top travel destinations in the US!

  2. New Orleans- There’s a reason that we chose this for our first girls trip ever! Not only does New Orleans have a great night life (hello Bourbon Street!), but New Orleans is another city that’s rich in history as well. From tours of the Garden District and the French Quarter to spooky ghost tours at night, you can definitely get a feel for the city of New Orleans no matter where you are. And who can pass up some amazing Creole or Cajun food or some delicious beignets from Cafe du Monde? Plus, you can’t beat how relatively inexpensive the city (if you don’t go during one of the top festival weekends) considering how touristy the city is.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  3. Las Vegas- Oh Las Vegas, you definitely know how to keep a secret, right? Sin City is known all over the world as being a place to let your inhibitions go and have a great time, and who better to do that with than your girlfriends! From the clubs and night life, to the pool parties during the day, to the amazing shopping, and the out of this world food, Las Vegas is the perfect place to go with your girls! Just be prepared for the very high price tag of this very fun city!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  4. New York City- New York City might be one of the most iconic cities in the United States! From the numerous different neighborhoods that each have a vibe all on their own, to the amazing food and shopping, to all of the cultural experiences like Broadway and the art galleries and experiences, it’s easy to see how NYC would be the perfect destination to go with your best gals! Again, because New York City is known all over the world, it’s definitely going to be a destination with a higher price tag than some of the other cities.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  5. Napa- I think that all I need to say is wine for a reason why Napa would be a great destination to visit with your besties! Besides some out of this world wine, Napa also has a great food scene with some of the world’s best chefs. Although there’s not too much more to do in Napa besides drink wine, sometimes that’s all you and your girlfriends really need! Just be prepared to pay for everything when you visit Napa, including all of your tastings!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  6. Austin- Being a Texas girl, you know that I have to throw a great Texas location on this list! Austin is known for being the capital of Texas, but it’s also known for being “weird”, aka not like the rest of the Lone Star State! Austin is definitely anything but traditional Texas, but that also means that it has a lot of other fun things to offer. Austin has its famous 6th Street for some night life, an awesome music scene, a ton of festivals throughout the year, an awesome food scene, and a ton of outdoor activities ranging from hiking and canoeing to all the lake and river activities as well. And since Austin is in Texas, it’s relatively inexpensive as well.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  7. Boston- If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, then you probably know that I’m a huge history buff, which is one of the reasons that we chose Boston as a destination for one of our girls trips. Besides being one of the integral cities during the American Revolution and having a ton of history, Boston is another city that’s has a great food scene, a great cultural scene with tons of museums, and also a great sports scene as well. Girls can love sports as well, so don’t be afraid to take in a Red Sox or a Patriots game while you’re there! Because of it’s location, Boston is another city that’s a little bit on the expensive side.
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  8. Nashville- Nashville is another fun Southern city, that’s very quickly becoming the bachelorette party capital for the country, and there’s obviously a reason why. Nashville is a lot cheaper to visit than Las Vegas, and it offers some of the same great benefits as Sin City! Broadway offers a great place to party, and with all of the amazing live music, that puts it a step above Vegas in my opinion. Nashville also offers an amazing southern food scene, and if you’re a fan of country music, then Nashville is definitely the place to be!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  9. Los Angeles- Los Angeles might not be a very traditional place to visit with your girlfriends, but I think that it’d be a ton of fun! LA is the home of Hollywood, so the potential to run into some of the celebrities that you love is way higher than any where else in the country. And who better to fangirl with than some of your best friends! Because of all the celebrities that live in LA, you can also count on some fabulous shopping, some great food, and very high prices!
The Wandering Weekenders- 10 Best Destinations For A Girls Weekend
  10. Disney World- Again, Disney World is a very untraditional destination for some, but where else can you relive your childhood with some of your girls! I’ve always thought that it would be a ton of fun to get your picture taken with some of your favorite Disney princesses with some of your favorite girlfriends! Disney World is definitely not just for kids or big kids, you can definitely have some adult fun in Epcot and attempt to drink your way around the world!

A Very Vanderpump Evening

In there’s one thing that Los Angeles is known for, it’s definitely celebrities. So of course when we visited, I had to make sure that we had the opportunity to visit somewhere that we might run into some celebrities, even if they were Bravo-lebrities. And what better place than a restaurant that is owned by a few Bravo-lebrities!

The Wandering Weekenders- A Very Vanderpump Evening

Villa Blanca

Once we had finished up our trip to the Warner Bros Studios, we only had a little while before we needed to head to Villa Blanca for our dinner reservations. On Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules, Lisa always talks about how Villa Blanca is where you take your wife while SUR is where you take your girlfriend. After visiting SUR last year, I was anxious to see the difference between the two.

The Wandering Weekenders- A Very Vanderpump Evening

As soon as you walk into Villa Blanca, everything is covered in white and absolutely beautiful! SUR definitely has a lot more of a sexy vibe, but Villa Blanca can only be described as beautiful. We sat down, and immediately ordered some cocktails. I opted for the Cosmo Blanca Martini, because when in Villa Blanca, right?

We were both really torn about what to order for dinner, so we consulted with our waitress who definitely pointed us in the right direction. We had the Ahi Tuna Tartar which was amazing, and we split the Spicy Tiger Prawns and Lobster pasta and the Truffle and Mushroom Risotto for dinner. Everything was so delicious, but Chris and I both agree that the fried goat cheese balls from SUR were still the best thing we ate at a Lisa and Ken restaurant.

Pump

Once we were done with dinner, we didn’t really have any plans for the rest of the evening, so Chris has the wonderful idea to head to Pump for the evening. Since we had visited SUR during our last trip, visiting Pump would pretty much be completing the trifecta of Lisa Vanderpump restaurants while we were in Los Angeles. To say that I was excited about the fact that Chris wanted to visit Pump would be an understatement!

The Wandering Weekenders- A Very Vanderpump Evening

After dinner, we dropped our belongings back off at the hotel where there was a bat mitzvah was going on, and there were seriously some of the most expensive cars in the world parked outside of our hotel. Not only were there Mercedes and BMWs, but the Bentleys and Ferraris made those cars look like the cheapest cars in the lot! It was so crazy!

We grabbed an Uber after we dropped our stuff off in our room, and made our way to Pump. When we arrived, you could definitely tell that the place was packed, so we were very fortunate to find a place at the bar. Again, when in Pump you must order a Pump-tini, and man were those things strong, but good!

Once we had our cocktails, we basically just had the best time just people watching and seeing if we could recognize anybody from the shows. Right before we left was the episode of Pump Rules where James got fired because he was being derogatory towards one of the other servers at Pump, and we totally saw him! It was so cool!

That’s him on the left!

The best part of the whole evening was the fact that Ken showed up before we left! He walked into the bar area and talked to the servers for a bit before getting mauled by people in the bar. Chris was actually the one that saw Ken first, and even managed to get these stealthy shots of him before he walked away. To say that my inner Bravo lover was fulfilled would probably be an understatement!

After a few drinks we had our fill of Pump, so we headed back to our hotel for the evening. I was so excited that we were able to visit all of Lisa and Ken’s restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Lisa is 100% correct that all of the different restaurants have their own vibe, but no matter which one you visit, you can guarantee that you’ll have a great meal and some great drinks. Plus, you never know which member of the Vanderpump family will walk through the door while you’re there!

Warner Bros Studio Tour

How to visit several Vanderpump restaurants in one evening in Los Angeles!

Warner Bros Studio Tour

Once we had finished exploring the gardens at The Getty, it was time to head over to the Warner Bros Studios for our studio tour! We had made reservations in advance for the last tour of the day, and we definitely cut it a little close to our start time.

The Wandering Weekenders- Warner Bros Studio Tour

When we arrived, we checked in and then literally sat down for a few minutes before we were called in to watch a video before heading out for our tour!

The Wandering Weekenders- Warner Bros Studio Tour

I forget what our tour guide’s name was, but she was awesome! Not only did she have such an extensive knowledge of the different sets that we got to see and the movies and shows that we filmed there, but we also got to see way more sets than normal! It was amazing!

Hennesy Street

The tour started out by driving us by the famous WB water tower and then driving up to Hennesy Street. Hennesy Street has been used in multiple movies including Annie and Road To Perdition, and even some shows like The Big Bang Theory. Our guide told us that Hennesy Street is used a lot because it’s very neutral and easy to change up the buildings to look like anywhere you want.

Also while we were on Hennesy Street we went into one of the buildings to see what the inside looks like. Not only was there no ceiling, but a lot of the brick and other decorative pieces were all fake and made out of plaster. Our guide explained that because the sets are used for so many different movies and shows on a regular basis, they need to change the sets out fast and cheaply, hence the cheap plaster on the walls. The audience just needs to believe that it’s real brick. She also explained that there’s no roof because they need all the extra space for lights and air conditioning, and because the audience will never see the ceiling, it doesn’t need to be finished.

Sound Stages & Sets

After Hennesy Street we made our way to a sound stage, and it wasn’t just any sound stage, it was the Big Bang Theory soundstage! We weren’t allowed to take any pictures while we were in there because it’s a current show that’s on the air, but it was still so cool to see the different sets and props from one of our favorite shows!

The Wandering Weekenders- Warner Bros Studio Tour

Our next stop was another place that we weren’t allowed to take pictures because it’s still being filmed, the Gilmore Girls set! The Gilmore Girls set is also where they film Pretty Little Liars, but they had transformed it into Stars Hollow and it was amazing! We got to see Luke’s Diner, Miss Patty’s Dance Studio, and everything else you could think of! My heart was so happy! We did manage to drive by a place that I could take a picture of, The Radley from PLL, and the Friends Sound Stage! It was so awesome seeing both of them in real life!

The Archive

Our next stop we could actually take pictures in, The Archive. During our trip, Warner Bros was celebrating 75 Years of Batman, so costumes from all of the Batman movies were on display. Not only did we get to see the Batman suits from the newer movies with Christian Bale and costumes worn by The Joker and Catwoman, but we also got to see the Batsuits from some of the earlier movies.

On the second level of The Archive was a Harry Potter exhibit which was phenomenal! Not only did they have costumes from the movies, but they also had some of the sets, like the letters shooting out of the fireplace and the sign for Privet Drive. There was also a line where you could be sorted into your house. It was really cool for any Harry Potter fan!

Because the studio was celebrating 75 years of Batman, the Picture Car Vault had been transformed to house all of the Barmobiles. It was really cool to see how they had transformed the Batmobile throughout the years for the different movies.

More Sound Stages & Sets

We ended the tour by driving through the area where sets are kept and seeing two more sound stages. When driving through the set area we even saw one for The Big Bang Theory that they didn’t have on their sound stage. The last two sound stages we saw were the Pretty Little Liars soundstage and the Ellen soundstage.

The Wandering Weekenders- Warner Bros Studio Tour

I love PLL, so I was naturally freaking out and wishing that I was able to take all the pictures! One of the funnier things about the PLL soundstage was that The Brew, the coffee shop that the girls are always at, is literally right next door to the school. It’s amazing how because they don’t show that part in the show, we use our imagination to believe that those two places are far away from each other.

Even though I’m not the biggest Ellen fan, it was still really cool to see her stage, which was quite a bit bigger than a lot of others. I can only imagine what it’s like when it’s filled with people and Ellen comes dancing in!

Stage 48

After tour was done, we got dropped off at Stage 48 where you can basically go through the whole movie making process, from picking out the script, hiring the actors, designing the costumes, and even doing some of the special effects.

The Wandering Weekenders- Warner Bros Studio Tour

Stage 48 was really cool, but the best part was probably getting our picture taken on the Friends Set! I haven’t watched the series all the way through, I know I’m seriously so far behind, but I’ve loved everything I’ve watched so far! And the best part was that Chris took a picture with me, even though he’s not a huge Friends fan. It was a great way to end an amazing tour of the Warner Bros Studios!

Come back next time for when I talk about our experience at Villa Blanca and Pump because let’s face it, I love my Bravolebrities!
