The Weekend Of Getting Baby Stuff Done

Happy second Monday in October everybody! It’s still so surreal that it’s already the second Monday of the month, especially since it’s still so hot in Texas so it doesn’t feel like fall, plus it just means that I’m that much closer to my due date! I’m already 33 weeks, and it still doesn’t feel real! I’m hoping to get another bumpdate up this week, so hopefully you can look for that on Friday. Anyways, in true Monday fashion, it’s time for a little weekending with the always fabulous Biana!

Friday

Things were going really well at work with our quarter end close, but with the Astros playoff game potentially ending right around the time that I normally get off work, I decided to head out of the office about 5 minutes early. It was so nice because I was able to get out of the office and home at a decent time.

Our neighborhood has started up Food Truck Fridays again, which I think happens every other week or once a month, but basically they get a whole bunch of Food Trucks at the front of the neighborhood with some music and basically gives everybody a chance to get together and eat some food. Chris and I had never been, but thought that it’d be a fun way to spend our Friday night so we decided to go.

They had about 6 or 7 food truck there and Chris and I had fun getting to try a little bit from a few different ones. We tried some tacos and empanadas, and then of course we couldn’t pass up cupcakes for dessert. It was also a lot of fun to see how many young parents there were in the neighborhood, and surreal to think that in just a few short months that’ll be us!

We spent the rest of the night just relaxing at home and watching movies that were on TV. It was nice to have a quiet night at home without any plans after having such a busy past few weeks.

Saturday

Sleeping in has definitely been a priority the past few weekends since I know that it’ll be in short supply once the babies get here, and this weekend was no different. I slept in a little bit Saturday morning before waking up to shower and head over to my friend Sarah’s house. It had seriously been forever since we’d gotten to hang out, and this weekend couldn’t have been more perfect.

I drove over to her house and spent the afternoon just hanging out with her and her daughter. We had some Chick-fil-A for lunch and then just hung out at their house for the afternoon talking about anything and everything, although there was a lot of baby talk, and we started watching the second season of Fuller House and even snuck in some Real Housewives in there too! We had such a good time that we decided to do the same thing next weekend! I already can’t wait!

I came home later that afternoon, and Chris and I watched the Aggie game. To be honest, neither one of us had high hopes for actually beating Bama, so I think that we were both pleasantly surprised with how well we played against the Tide and how close the game actually was. Were you at least a little bit nervous Nadine?

One thing that I really want to do before too long is get some freezer meals ready for when the girls get here, so Chris and I went through a lot of our recipes and we figured out which ones we want to make and got our grocery list ready during the game. Now we just need to buy everything and start prepping!

Sunday

Surprisingly we slept in again Sunday morning before finally waking up and getting the day started. We hadn’t received our coupon to complete our registry yet, but we went on ahead and made our way to Buy Buy Baby to get everything else that we needed from our registry. The people at the store were very nice and gave us our coupon at the store and also gave us our twin discount as well because we seriously have no idea when the girls could get here.

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend Of Getting Baby Stuff Done

The rest of the afternoon we spent running errands and grocery shopping before heading home for the day. We had a lot of baby stuff that was just sitting in the game room so we went on ahead and got all of that organized along with getting everything put away in the nursery. Literally everything is done and ready for the babies to get here, except for getting the hospital bags ready to go. I’m hoping to get that done sometime this week or next weekend, and then all we have to do is wait! So crazy!

After going so much the past few weeks it was really nice to just have a weekend at home to get baby stuff done and to relax for a little bit too. Once our sweet girls get here I know that we’ll be so excited, but I also know that we’ll be super busy, so I’m trying to soak in as much relaxing and doing nothing until they get here. So the next few weekends will probably not be very exciting around these parts, but I know that we’ll definitely be enjoying them!

Did you have a fun weekend? Does your neighborhood have Food Truck events?

The Weekend With The Football Game

I feel like we’ve been nonstop for the past month, and let’s just say, I’m very much looking forward to a weekend of not doing much of anything except for getting baby stuff ready. But when everything is all said and done, these weekends of going are so much fun, and I know that I’ll be missing them once the babies get here. So let’s get into a little bit of a weekending with the always amazing Biana!

Friday

The weekend kicked off perfectly on Friday with my last shower hosted by the girls from my office. Chris was able to come up to the office and my coworkers totally outdid themselves with all things cute and adorable! Everything was decorated with the colors that we’re using in the girls’ nursery, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more beautiful! They even put together an awesome diaper castle that was pretty epic as well! I felt so loved by all of my coworkers, and the girls now have some really cute clothes and their stroller as well! I’m so thankful for my company and coworkers, and I know that I’ll be very happy to go back to everybody after my maternity leave.

Chris and I didn’t have much planned on Friday night after the shower, so we just headed home and spent the rest of the night just relaxing and got caught up on our shows from our DVR. A lot of our favorite shows had started up for the fall this past week so it was nice to get caught up with them again.

Saturday

We tried not to stay up too late on Friday night because we were up bright and early on Saturday to head to College Station for our only Aggie football game of the season, and the girls’ first game as well! We arrived in town in the perfect amount of time to see my parents for a little bit before heading to see Chris’s cousin for an early lunch. So far things are going great for her at A&M which we’re so happy about, although I definitely have to admit that talking to her about school makes me miss college a little bit! I loved the freedom of being in college and didn’t mind the studying, but I have to admit getting a paycheck is pretty nice too!

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend With The Football Game

We managed to do a little shopping while we were in town, of course, and got the cutest Class of 2040 onesies for the girls along with their own 12th Man Towels that say their names and have their class year as well. I promise we’re not going to brainwash them too much…

After our very expensive shopping expedition we dropped Chris’s cousin back off at her dorm before we headed back to my parents’ house to relax for a little bit before going to the game. I have to admit one of the best parts about having the brand new Kyle Field is the fact that there’s now escalators to get you all the way to the top of the stadium. Needless to say, this pregnant lady took full advantage of those escalators and had zero regrets.

I wish that I could say that the game was an amazing one and we played well, but I feel like the Aggies kind of sucked it up the first half, and it wasn’t that much fun to watch. Thankfully, everything else about the game was amazing. I loved being back in the Home of the 12th Man, yelling for my team, and listening to the band. It literally felt like coming home! The thing that I loved the most was the fact that they’ve now mic’d the band so they’re blasted all through the stadium. It was actually pretty funny because South Carolina brought a small band and we could only hear them because we were close and they would basically start playing, and then the Aggie band would pretty much have a drop mic type of moment and start playing and just completely overpower them. It was awesome!

Besides the amazing atmosphere and the not so amazing game, the only other crappy side to the game was the fact that during the first quarter they announced over the loud speaker that there was a drop in the water pressure and the bathroom facilities weren’t working in the entire stadium. Talk about the wrong thing to stay to a 7 month pregnant lady! They did say that you could back into the stadium with your ticket, but the only problem was that we were at the top of stadium, so if I walked out, I wasn’t going to be coming back. They did end up getting them fixed later on, but the bathrooms were pretty gross until the end of the game.

Combined with how terrible the Aggies were doing and the bathroom situation and my 7 month pregnant self having some major feet swelling, Chris and I decided to leave after the 3rd quarter. As soon as we walked out of the stadium we could hear that something bad had happened, and once we got home, we realized that we’d had a TD called back because of a bad call and the whole 12th Man got super upset. Thankfully the Aggies were able to pull off a win, but let’s just say that we don’t have too high of hopes for the game against Bama next weekend!

Sunday

Chris and I slept in for a little bit at my parents’ house on Sunday before we packed up and grabbed some lunch with a friend before heading home. I swear I don’t think that my parents knew what they were getting themselves into when they bought their retirement home in College Station because we’re going to be there a lot during football season!

The Wandering Weekenders- The Weekend With The Football Game

As soon as Chris and I got home we started to pick up the house a little bit because it was a disaster and the cleaning people were coming on Monday. The other major thing that we did was to organize the baby clothes and get all of them and the blankets and swaddles washed and put away. I seriously love all of the clothes that we got and can’t wait to see our girls wear them all! After the tons of laundry, Chris and I spent the rest of the night relaxing and watching a few of our shows. It wasn’t the most exciting of Sundays, but we needed that after our very exciting Saturday!

Did you have a good weekend? Do you like going back to your alma mater for football games?

The Last Weekend Trip Before The Babies

Man oh man, the longer weekends just really seem to fly by even quicker than the two day weekends! Chris and I took off on Friday so that we could have one last extra long weekend in Blanco visiting his parents. This was weekend was also special because it was the  last “trip” that we were going to take before the babies get here. So let’s get into an extra long weekending with the always amazing Biana!

Friday

We arrived at Chris’s parents house in Blanco late on Thursday night, so we were able to sleep in a little bit Friday morning before we woke up to start the day. And we woke up to some of the best news on Friday, our friends had their little girl! She’s so precious, and I can’t wait to meet her when they’re in town in December for a visit! Chris had a few calls to make in the morning, and before lunch time got here we were ready to get out and explore a little part of the Texas Hill Country that I had yet to visit: Gruene, Texas.

The Wandering Weekenders- The Last Weekend Trip Before The Babies

Gruene (pronounced like the color green) is a small Texas town that is known for it’s German heritage but also as a hub for Texas country music. Despite many economic hardships that hit the town Gruene Hall never closed, and to this day continues to be a place that launches Texas country music stars.

When we arrived in Gruene, we immediately went to one of the most well known places in Gruene besides Gruene Hall, The Gristmill! Located right beneath the Gruene Water Tower, The Gristmill offers open air dining and amazing views of the Guadalupe River. We arrived a little bit after lunch time, and because we were visiting on a Friday afternoon and arrived not during normal hours we were able to get a table without any problems, but I have heard to be prepared to wait in some pretty long lines if you want to eat there on a Friday or Saturday night. But don’t worry the food is well worth it! I personally got the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes, and oh my goodness was it delicious!

After lunch, we spent the rest of the day exploring the Historic District of Gruene. There were antique shops and other little knick knacky shops galore, and it was a lot of fun to just walk through them all. We did find the cutest little children’s boutique while we were in town, but unfortunately it was a little (A LOT) out of our price range. I guess that I’ll be sticking to some of the twin purge pages I’ve found on Facebook instead! We managed to not spend a ton of money while we were in Gruene, and then headed home to a nice and quiet evening at the house. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!

Saturday

I feel like the past few weekends if we have a day where nothing is really planned Chris and I manage to sleep in until 10:00 or 10:30. I guess that we just get so worn out during the week that we just have to sleep in (although I think that it’s mostly me that’s worn out). Anyways, I figure that we might as well do it while we can because I know that we won’t be able to once the babies get here!

Once we were up, we only had a short time before the Aggie game started. To be honest I didn’t have very high expectations for the game, but thankfully we were able to pull out another win over Arkansas in overtime. It would have been a lot less stressful of a game if the refs hadn’t taken one of our TD’s away in the second quarter, but it doesn’t matter because we won in the end!

The Wandering Weekenders- The Last Weekend Trip Before The Babies

After the game was over, we headed out for another short little trip in the Texas Hill Country, this time to Luckenbach. What was established as a local Trading Post, the town of Luckenbach never really grew much bigger than that, and in fact eventually went up for sale 1970. The town was actually bought, and not long afterwards, Jerry Jeff Walker recorded an album in Luckenbach which pretty much launched the small town into Texas Country fame! Luckenbach really hasn’t grown too much, but it’s still known for being a great place to listen to live Texas Country and even go dancing as well.

We arrived around mid Saturday afternoon, and enjoyed just walking around and seeing the sights and listening to the live music as well! The only thing that would have made it better would have been an ice cold beer, but I guess that I’ll have to enjoy that next time we visit. The town of Luckenbach is right near the town of Fredericksburg, and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to make a pit stop there next year when we visit.

After spending a couple of hours in Luckenbach we drove back to Blanco and spent the rest of the evening relaxing. Chris’s dad grilled some fabulous ribs and deer sausage, and then we made a quick trip to town for some dessert of DQ Blizzards! I can’t tell you the last time that I had a Blizzard, but it was so good! Both babies were very happy too!

Sunday

We didn’t get to sleep in that late on Sunday because we needed to make it back to Houston for a funeral for one of my friend’s brothers. It was a very sudden death, and my heart just breaks for my friend and her family. The rest of Sunday was spent getting a few things organized around the house, like finally bringing baby stuff upstairs so that it can be organized in the nursery soon, and just relaxing before the week started.

We had such a blast this weekend in Blanco, and we definitely enjoyed our last weekend trip without babies! Although, I have to admit that it’ll be a ton of fun to go back and visit with the babies in tow because that means that momma will be able to enjoy a beer, and I know that they’ll enjoy the time traveling as well!

Have you explored small towns near your hometown? Do you enjoy visiting small towns in your home state?
